Weekly Reflection IV

This week has been fairly relaxed compared to the last. I have managed to relax for a couple days as well as continue working on my essay for PoP. I have also managed to keep on top of my work for the theoretical project.

I chose the painting of Bibi La Purée by Picasso. I have been reserching Bibi's character as I find him extremely interesting. I was fascinated by this character and particularly by the reports of his eccentric personality.

After researching the painting, I found out that the character was a man named André-Joseph Salis, who was born around the middle of the 19th century. His name literally means, ‘to be in miserable straits’. He wondered between Montmartre and the Latin Quarter of Paris, and there are reports that he used to go from bar to bar, mocking his social superiors, including the poet Jean Moreas, yet he became an assistant to the poet Verlaine in the 1880’s. The poet Yates met Bibi while on a visit to Verlaine, and is said to have called him a “slovenly, ragged man…his trousers belted with a piece of rope and an opera hat upon his head”.

I plan to have this theoretical project finished by the end of next week so I can get on with my essay without having to worry about keeping up on the schedule. In order to do this I will need to start cosidering final design ideas for the character as well as fabric sourcing.

I havent yet started working on my film file but I am planning to do so next week. I have to make sure I keep my organisational skills and time management on point as now everything has become much more relaxed and I am regularly tempted to not do as much work. I do not intend to fall behind on this project so I have to be very careful.

My Concept

My concept is a woman who has lost her husband as she brutally murdered  him, she misses him and begins to imagine how it would all happen again if he were to return. After breaking down the image this spider reference keeps coming back to me and I have decided to go along with it.
