it's becoming a thing right? blogs about asoiaf AND snk, and I'm absolutley radiant about it, my two favourite fandoms in one url! (atla is pretty cool as well) do you think it's not only the great stories, but the amount of theories they make us elaborate with such a passion?
Ahaha, yuss! You sure do notice the right trend (didn't give it a proper thought before your ask, but man you must be seeing the gist of it!)It must be the Wall that unites themFrankly, I reckon it's mostly the magic of asoiaf, which goes absolutely in sync with most of the other fandoms.Oh, wait, but the both of SnK openings are so far possesing the same ability to merge with other franchises, indeed. And why, SURE the amount of theorybending possibilities is way beyond fantastic. Although I can't say I take SnK theorybending seriously *winks* whereas asoiaf (mostly its pre-canon relationships and all the secret targs jazz) holds at least some... minor degree... of seriousness XDMight be because Isayama is just such a royal troll (as I don't really think maestro Martin is one... Unless someone learns to warg into White Walkers or Dany's dragons and engage into other 3dmg-Westeros kind of activities.... but wait that's another scenario altogether)
Day 20 - What's the most interesting thing about GoT?
Secret Targaryens, of course.
Not even the snk wall cult conspiracies can stand against the sheer amount of theory-bending I've read concerning asoiaf, from Ashara living at the Greywater, Elia being _rescued_ by the Mountain (think about it), faceless Missandei (but that's probably canon) to my adorable Jaqen and all those bastarded (or not) Targs in every other noble family of Westeros and beyond. It's a miracle they haven't found Targs on Iron Isles... Yet.

... just because Tywin didn't know something, it doesn't mean it didn't happen. I don't think it's possible that Aerys had sex with Joanna on her and Tywin's wedding night and I don't remember any supporters of this theory arguing that this is what happened. Barristan's words simply reinforced the idea that Aerys was attracted to Joanna and behaved wildly inappropriately towards her, sexually harassed her. And that he was a guest at Casterly Rock around the time Jaime and Cersei were conceived. Here's a scenario that I think could have happened, though I'm not insisting that it is what did happen: It's possible that Aerys forced himself on Joanna shortly after the wedding and she decided not to tell Tywin because, as you said, he is not the kind of man to let it slide. If Tywin found out that Aerys raped his wife, in my opinion that would mean war, which Joanna could have wanted to avoid. And there are many other reasons why a rape victim wouldn't want to talk about her assault to others. Shame and fear that the husband she loved would leave her, for example. And it's possible that she didn't think the rape resulted in anything. For example, she could have taken an abortifacient next morning, thought that it worked and when she got with child, thought that the child is Tywin's. And then she would give birth to Jaime and Cersei, see that they had zero Targaryen features and that would put her worries at rest. I think that scenario could present another reading of the scene where Joanna finds out that Jaime and Cersei are playing pretend-sex. Obviously, any mother would be horrified in that situation. However, what if in addition to being horrified because of the obvious reasons, she was so completely freaked out because that incident made her doubt her children's parentage?

Agreed, it IS a huge violation of bodily integrity. However, it has been canonically shown that in certain instances it is acceptable to remove someone's bending. *IF* we accept that it is acceptable in certain instances, as Aang did it, what makes Korra, a 17-year-old meathead (I SAY IT WITH LOOOOVE), qualified to discern which instances those are? She has already been shown to misuse her power, and she and other benders don't even think of it as misusing power. Where is the line in the sand, here? What makes Korra any better than, say, Tahno (ilu tahno)? Amon doesn't have any right to be judge, jury, and executioner, but does Korra? And if you didn't know Aang or follow his journey, would you just be able to trust that this guy who was born into this great power out of chance (or something, it's never quite clear on the show how and why the avatar is reborn into certain lives) has the right to take away bending?
