Lester Padoapollo? (I give up)
Just thought you might be wondering... where the heck did the name LESTER come from, well Apollo was given the name Lester Papadopoulos (very long and hard to spell :b) when he became mortal. And I was all like... WHAT?
I mean, couldn’t have Rick just called Apollo “Fred” instead?
NOPE!!! I further researched both the name “Lester” and the last name that is impossible to spell (dang you Rick), and found this out:
The last name Papadopoulos (spelled with three c’s one z and the letter seven) means “son of the priest”. I think this is just referencing the fact that the Oracle of Delphi has a priestess, but there might be something I’m missing. Anyway, the name “Lester” is where things start to get more interesting.
The name Lester can be derived from the name of a city Leicester (in Ireland), which got it’s name from the name of a river (I know complicated) “Ligore”... the other part comes form the latin word for camp “castra”. Now this got me thinking... what if one the oracles are located in Camp Jupiter, as it is a camp that has a river (The Little Tiber) on it’s border. I find it perfectly plausible, as the Oracle of Dodona was located in the woods at camp half-blood. Also, I don’t think Zeus would leave Apollo high and dry with no hints.
So... what do you guys think?
~Signing off and hope you have a SUPER nerdy day!
