yes ok but i need ALL of this ok. esp the part of magnus and gabe being buddies. i mean that was to be absolutely expected and i'd've been totally disappointed if you hadn't mentioned that. also i think (if i remember my shadowhunter lore correctly) that alec is the nerd, so i think he'd get along great with sam. also this thing of being the misfit in the family and how alec knows what it's like when your parents are disappointed in you. also they're like über nerds.

okay YES this is like, the biggest of my theories with this - and not just this particular au, too. most stories have that one chracter - the snarky sarcastic little shit that possesses a decent amount of power and pretends that they don’t give a single flying fuck about anything in the world, but as the story progresses we find out that they do care, and they care a lot. they are always tricksters, even if they’re not denoted as such (Magnus is definitely one, bc magic is a form of trickery and a battle of wits when it comes to feuds between warlocks), and, in my opinion, they always have an option to go way up and above the physical/magical/lore/religious/etc laws of their particular realm. and it’s not breaking those laws, it’s seeing them for what they truly are, the basic building bricks of creation, and going around them as if they weren’t really there. it’s always there, that potential, with every trickster out there. not many of them evolve to the point where this possibility becomes reality, but some of them do, and when they do it? well, there’s a whole new array of things to explore and adventures to have. 

I have to mention that I’m talking multiverse (I’m always talking multiverse bc I believe Stephen Hawking and a bunch of other v smart and v cool physicists know what they’re talking about and proving the multiverse theory is just a matter of time). so, for a trickster who managed to snatch that opportunity to grow into something bigger, travel between parallel worlds becomes as simple as going to the grocery store. so it’s only a matter of when they run into others just like them. and become friends - or, rather, not quite friends, but definitely allies. this is one of trickster rules: they respect each other and always help each other out. they’re probably never happy about it, and do it bitching and moaning (and on a ‘you owe me’ basis, always), but they do it still. some of them are more inclined to make friends everywhere they happen to be, others prefer solitude, but they never refuse to help out a fellow trickster.

(this is getting waaay to long so putting the rest under the cut)

so in this particular crossover Gabriel and Magnus are somewhat begrudging buddies who sometimes help each other out. not that they cannot cope on their own - they can, and would have, but if they do it and use their powers to their full extent they would be immediately kicked out of their own realm by the universal, or rather multiversal law, something along the lines of ‘you’ve grown up all powerful so go do grownup stuff quit loitering about’. but loitering about is what they love to do most, that’s why they always tend to avoid using their powers at all costs, quite often resorting to tricks way below their actual skill level - just to be on the safe side. and if they sneak around backdoors and jump between universes every once in a while it’s nobody else’s business but theirs (the multiverse needs them just the way they are so it pretends it doesn’t notice either so its overgrown children can spend some extra time playing hide and seek instead of doing something they believe would be inevitably boring)

Gabriel owed Magnus a favour, that’s why he came and brought the bros with him - that way he could help a fellow trickster out without using his powers too much. most likely they’ll tell you all the things they hate about each other if asked, but really they’re solid buddies after that one time they got drunk on some potent seelie stuff and went into one of the ‘bad’ universes to Fuck Some Shit Up (bad universes are those with not-good dystopian apocalyptic shit going on, or tyranny of the Evil, stuff like that).

so their relationship is basically a snark fest and constant one-upping each other but when push comes to shove they’re pretty solid.

also simon and cas would probably nerd out together because cas watched like all the netflix, plus he got all the pop culture projected into his brain by metatron, so they'd probably be pals too

yES YES THEY ABSOLUTELY WOULD and Cas would sometime pull his ‘I don’t understand that reference’ thing to Simon’s utter delight bc it is a reference in its own it’s like a reference pun yfm))))

also i need magnus flirting with dean and dean stumbling over his words and stuttering and blushing and gabe flirting with alec and alec practically dying as well

actually Dean would be absolutely unaffected by Magnus’ advances bc he’s the biggest fan of the show and malec is his otp so he’d be like nope dude no way sorry don’t believe you for a second now stop torturing your boyfriend right now immediately he’s insecure as it is you should take better care of him dude

also the shadowhunters like immediately make tfw carve anti possession tattoos into their skin. cas is meanwhile examining all the weapons. dean tries to convince the institute boss that they really do need a grenade launcher to properly defend themselves. he also criticizes their choice of vehicle (also simon's van)

yes to all of this!!!)))))) and the GRENADE LAUNCHER OHMYGODDDDD)))))

also alec being SUPER jealous when magnus makes that comment about sam being pretty (or, as you put it 'beautiful moose of a man') (hc that magnus and gabe meet up to chat about their dumb, clueless, beautiful, stunning, adorable boyfriends)

more like BRAG about their boyfriends and make bets on whose bf is better at well - anything really, from brushing their teeth to surviving the zombie apocalypse and total body count (ooh they’d 100% stick Sam and Alec into a pocket universe zombie apocalypse to see who’d win. they’d fight off the zombies, find the portal out of that realm and will NOT be amused by their boyfriends’ behaviour)

meanwhile Sam and Alec would pretend to hate each other’s guts only to later play one of the best pranks ever on their boyfriends. Gabe and Magnus will be really impressed and stare at them with hearteyes forever

uhhhhhhhh well MAYBE but but I gotta warn you it’s NOT gonna be any time soon I’ve got too many things to write >_<
