If you follow my work, you know I have a thing for portraits appearing in classic movies. I’ve done a few already. This one is special because it belongs to a very underrated Hitchcock film, The Paradine case. It’s always regarded as a lesser effort by the master of suspense but I’ve always loved it. The leading lady, Alida Valli was a Selznick import, after he couldn’t get Garbo for the role. I think Valli, as she was to be featured in publicity ads, was fascinating in a very unlikeable role.
