🔥 (And then I'll leave ya' alone) What is your opinion about the character that your currently playing? Do you see any flaws?
Send me a “ 🔥 “ for an unpopular opinion.
ooc: Unpopular opinion regarding Sephiroth is that I see him as the type of character that should be unshippable. If you follow canon information (and BC and the compilation are not canon) then it would be impossible for a character like Sephiroth to relate to another person on an emotional level due to his past.
He’s a guy that grew up as a lab rat, someone that was forced to become a living weapon and to engineer the perfect killing machine you cannot allow for him to relate to or grow attached to other people. To do so would be to utterly ruin what Shinra and the Jenova Project aimed for in creating a super soldier, so of course they would try to prevent him from forming bonds with other people and they would deprive him of contact with them on an emotional level. So if he grew up isolated from people (beyond lab techs/doctors) in his childhood years then he’s bound to be emotionally stunted and unable to relate to others beyond what he can logically reason out or on such a basic level that normal children would be on a level above him.
All of this is before you ever consider him going insane which makes it utterly impossible if you stay faithful to canon to have him ‘ship’ with another character. When he is insane Sephiroth believes himself one of the Cetra, an entirely different species above humans which he hates for destroying his people. If you believed someone was responsible for murdering your whole race and being on the level of an animal in your eyes then would you be open to being in a relationship with them? I know I wouldn’t.
So tl:dr - I think that if you wish to remain faithful to canon Sephiroth then you cannot logically ship him with any other character as he frankly is too messed up to ever form a normal relationship, much less a romantic one.
Regarding your other question, I think that Sephiroth has flaws just like any other character. Honestly, you cannot have a good character without them having flaws which is what helps make them three-dimensional and more human as it were. Sephiroth’s main flaws being that he’s emotionally crippled and traumatized from his past which leads to him snapping later on and leads to Cloud and his party having to put him down.
I could go on more about this subject really, but I may save that later on for another hc post of sorts.
