Triple dawg dare u  To follow your dreams  This reality we’re living   Is not what it seems 

Give it try  You may not be mine  But I own my memories, And I remember you’re fine

Can’t believe it’s still you You were a vision come true Can’t keep writing songs for myself, Someone’s gotta be my muse 

It was like I was the ghost and you were the medium no one sees me like you can I still remember the phone call behind the good will You won my heart, Magic man

But you should see all the things  That have blossomed in your absence  I’m the one that’s still over here dancing,  you’re just the boy who’s had too many chances

My stomach was lurching at the thought of being possessed by Damian.  Just the normal cold feet experience, right?  Why should I be worried? He’s most certainly unlike any entity I’ve ever encountered before.  Knowing, powerful, kind, intelligent…and that’s the thing you’re supposed to do when you’re my age right? Submit and allow yourself to be possessed. I had always shirked away from the idea of marriage for just that reason. I didn’t want to ever belong to anyone except myself and the universe. The idea of being some man’s “property” made me want to vomit.  Changing your last name to his to totally seal the deal. The patriarchy was something I’ve always rebelled against, so why was I questioning whether or not I wanted to be possessed by Damian? Loneliness. I was aching inside and needed someone to fill the emptiness within me. Someone who understood me.  No human man had ever truly understood me before. I hardly even understood me. I rarely took the time to understand myself with how busy I was with my work and traveling, always running from something, it seems. Running from my past, from myself. But as it turns out, they’re right when they say everywhere you go take yourself with you. And take myself with me I did indeed, to Malibu, with Damian.  For our wedding — or rather, Possession — day.

“Conformity Kills”

Hold onto your hats cause

it's about to get heavy

but the only way out is through

so y'all better get ready

It’s 2019, time we stop

Hiding the madness

You think you’re being safe by

Following the masses

But I can’t count all the ways it’s

Killing your soul

Your mental health is where

it's taking it's toll

school, work, marriage,

kids, retirement, death --

God knows there

must be more

Trying to fit into this

Hellhole society

Is totally a bore

can you imagine if

everyone great,

everyone cool

followed the crowd

instead of their heart

can you imagine how colorless the

world would be

without all of that art.

Student loans and

work with no purpose,

Eating tortured animals,

The whole world is a Circus.

Fake relationships,

Like real love could ever

Be a symbol of status

Better off on my own

‘Cause you know I'm the baddest

y'all care what people think but

Everyone’s wrapped up in themselves,

No sense of "we"

Their behavior is a reflection of them

I want me to like me.

in all this competition we've lost

what we need most,

our sense of community

your unique self expression

is what makes you truly free

to all the haters

you'll never stop my growth

I love myself enough

to make up for us both

for everyone one of you there's

10 more who need what I have to say,

I only want the sound of my voice

To save someone’s day.

So I’m ringing in the

New American Dream

where experience trumps possessions

Changing the world has

Become my obsession

the worst thing you could do is

deprive the world of your gifts

powerful enough to cause a

paradigm shift

The New American Dream

The New American Dream is  breakfast on a Route 66 Diner The New American Dream is  midnights and moonlights and  cactus soundtracks and desert sunsets And road trips into the  endless blue sky. I chose art the way most people  Choose a normal life.  We gaze at the stars without Realizing they’re gazing back, The eternal audience to our film production --  The scenes flash like strobe lights. Dark shadowy figures loom like  Wisps of cigar smoke. Glitz and glamour And pearls and perfume, beer and Ball gowns, Alter-egos & Stage names - I choose between interesting characters or solitude.  Can you feel the weight  of the history in the room? Can you feel the freedom in the air? I’m only fully alive on stage or on the open road, I’m the New American Dream, Gatsby’s got nothing on me.
