Duckies - (Dick Version)

“Come on, it’s this way!”

“Okay, okay, slow down,” Dick laughed, nimbly leaping over the fallen tree branch to not trip.

“You’re going too slow and we’ll miss it!” Jason hollered from a few feet up the path, the younger boy turned back with a bright grin showing the dimples on his cheeks. “We are almost there so hurry up!”

Dick put on a burst of speed and caught up to Jason just in time for the path to give way to the shore of the lake. Jason slipped his hand inside Dick’s larger one and tugged him along the waterline. “I found it over here.”

Jason practically vibrated with excitement, pulling hard enough that Dick felt it in his shoulder. He lightly tugged back, guiding Jason to slow down a bit. 

“Please Dickie,” Jason’s eyes were wide with excitement as he looked back, “it’s just up here and I don’t want to miss–” 

“Sssh” Dick held a finger to his lips and gestured in front of them. 

Jason paused, then slowly turned around. There the mother duck still sat on her nest, but Dick could see a few empty egg shells around. The source of Jason’s excitement was still hiding beneath her though. 

“Okay Little Wing, just approach slowly–”

Jason darted ahead, impatient, but he slowed as the duck noticed him and began to puff up in defense. 

“Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you,” Jason kept his voice soft as he reached out towards the hissing duck. “I just wanna to see them.”

The duck seemingly huffed but she stood and several yellow puffs squirmed in the light as the babies became visible.

Jason froze, staring in awe. “Dick, do you think Bruce would let me keep a duck?” 

Dick’s booming laugh set off the mother duck, causing her to fly at him and chase them both away from her nest.

Eh, why not? Here's the lullaby Butterfly Effect Tobi sings to calm himself and younger siblings down. I may make a second version because this one isn't the best I can do, but eeehhh we'll see, huh?
