I Return!
Alrighty, so I am finally back to the land of the living after my surgery. My recovery is going well and I have gotten back on my feet and back to work. Last night was my first weigh-in for a few weeks, and unsurprisingly (to myself, at the very least) I put on 3.5 pounds since the 25/05/2015.
I hold my hands up and take full responsibility for this one, while I was laid up recovering I comfort ate a lot and didn't take good care of myself diet-wise. It is what it is and the important thing is now I'm regaining control of my life and don't have the same obstruction in terms of my injuries/surgeries anymore. I'm not even using crutches! Granted, I can't manage more than a few minutes walking at a time, but it is a massive improvement on where I was a month ago. I am regaining some much needed independence and am hoping that my lost confidence will be fairly quick to follow.
Tonight I am going swimming for the first time in 6 months, which I am beyond excited about. Before I had my accident I was working very hard to build up my fitness. Swimming has always been something I have absolutely adored and at one point I was averaging between 4 and 5 miles a week. Not being able to get into the pool has been one of the hardest things about the whole fiasco with my leg. I fully expect my stamina to be non-existent again now, but I am determined to get back up to where I was, both to aid my weight loss and my general well-being.
I'm also going back to basics with my eating. Being on the Slimming World plan, I always found Green days worked the best for me, and was very upset when they were phased out in favour of Extra Easy as being the only plan. I find my weight-loss slows to a crawl on EE. However I had a chat with my consultant last night who was happy for me to return to Green while it still worked well for me, as I have been doing Slimming World long enough that I know exactly what I am doing. So I'll be going back to familiar, effective territory for me and keeping food diaries for a little while to keep myself completely on point.
I'm also setting myself a HUGE target this week of losing 4 pounds by my next weigh in on the 22nd. I need this morale boost, and I know that I can do it, I've done that much and more in the past. I know it's a huge ask but I really feel the need to push myself and as I am effectively going to be treating myself as a new member this week, it's not an unrealistic thing to achieve. It's just going to require a lot of commitment.
So, it's a week of hard graft ahead. I'm pleased to be back to blogging as I always find it reminds me to make better choices. I'll be posting food pics and things again now I am able to get back to cooking and perhaps some blips about how the swimming goes!
Sending happy thoughts to you all as usual :)
