VIVIANA DELUCA’S COLLECTION OF FANTASTICAL FAE BEASTS:
aviatress, a winged guardian panther and viviana’s familiar. aviatress has been with viviana ever since she can remember. the panther is strong and silent, always carefully watching over her sometimes chaotic faerie. she doesn’t like many creatures, faerie or otherwise, besides viviana, but she has always had a soft spot for vienna, and aeryn gets her silent approval after some time. aviatress started growing horns when viviana did, and they seem to grow as hers do.
gallant, a pegasus given to her by her first love, alexander. gallant is noble and strong and there could not be a more accurate name for him. he’s viviana’s escape from the world. when it all gets to be too much, viviana climbs atop gallant’s back and they soar as high into the skies as they can go. viviana enjoys riding him through the untamed wilderness of the unseelie court, too.
thora, a cat sith that’s always just seemed to be around. thora is mischievous and tricky, getting enjoyment out of pranking others and causing chaos. she seems to represent viviana’s more destructive side, while aviatress represents her regal, queenly side.
tempest, a phoenix that viviana befriended when she was young. like many phoenixes, tempest lived on mammoth mountain, and she used to watch viviana try to climb up the side of the mountain everyday. when viviana finally climbed all the way to tempest’s nest, the phoenix declared her worthy enough to call her her own. tempest then burst into flames and rose out of her own ashes a new, baby phoenix that entrusted her new life to viviana, so she’s taken care of her ever since.
jupiter, a unicorn of what sub - species, viviana’s not so sure. his coat is as golden as the sun, but his mane and tail are made up of peacock feathers. he seems to be a hybrid of a hybrid, perhaps an alicorn born without wings. but, whatever he is, there’s no doubt that jupiter’s magic is impressive. she thinks that he senses the same strong magic within her, and that’s why he chooses to stay with her and be her noble steed. viviana and jupiter had quite the deep connection.
zoren, a golden sabretooth tiger that viviana raised from a tiny cub, zoren is the most protective of viviana out of all her creatures. he seems to know that he owes her his life, and he repays this dept by sticking close to her side and making sure none get too close. if anyone were to ever get past aviatress, zoren is there to make sure they get no further. he is as loving and cuddly as he is loyal.
athena, a spirit owl that was jase’s wedding present to viviana. fortunately, she doesn’t hold that against her because she’s too busy marvelling at athena’s wisdom and ability to see into a person’s soul. athena sleeps on a perch in viviana’s personal chambers, but, like all her creatures, she’s free to roam the unseelie court, though athena prefers to stick close to viviana’s side, often her shoulder.
zuelia, a psyhound that appeared when viviana started teaching herself psychic powers. viviana suspects that the psychic canine is ancient. zuelia is with viviana to help her control her psychic abilities and magic, as all psychic faeries have their own psychic guide, though they’re not always psyhounds like zeulia. she communicates and teaches viviana through their psychic connection.
scorpius, a cosmic dragon that came down from the skies when viviana slaughtered the faerie kings and conquered the fae realm, impressed by her power. he gave her a rare chance: a chance to tame him. so, viviana took on the cosmic dragon, and viviana bent his will to hers and tamed the cosmic dragon. she then named him scorpius. he now spends his days snoozing on the castle roof or intimidating seelies at the territory line, waiting for viviana’s instructions.
grimm, a deathdog that viviana first saw the day before the fire that claimed her parents lives. she didn’t know it then, but the legend is that, if you see a deathdog, death, himself, is not far behind it. when grimm appeared to her the second time, it was as she was planning the conquering. he has stayed with her ever since, running out ahead of her as she walks, making sure that everyone in her path knows that she is to be feared, that her name is synonymous with death.
beast, a harpy eagle griffin and the first of three herald’s of winged death, beast and viviana are very close. she found him injured and abandoned when he was just a hatchling, and she nursed him back to health. and she tried to find his real parents, but it seemed as if he was left for her, so viviana raised beast as if he were a child of her own, and now he acts like one.
malvagio, a horned vulture and the most terrifying of the trio of viviana’s winged death heralds, malvagio lives up to the meaning of his name as he is truly wicked. he’s only ever kind to viviana or her children. sometimes, as he soars through the realm, he’ll pick up unsuspecting seelie pixies in his massive beak and swallow them whole. no tiny creature is safe around malvagio.
aria, a dark raven griffin and the last member of viviana’s winged death heralds. despite her menacing appearance, aria is actually very sweet and gentle. she enjoys singing sweet tunes as much as viviana enjoys hearing them. aria sleeps on the tower roof closest to viviana’s chamber’s window, which she, much like beast, pokes her head into whenever she wants attention.
esmeray, a shadow panther and a gift from the unseelies on her coronation day. esmeray is a solitary creature who stays hidden among the shadows that her body dissolves into unless viviana call. which she doesn’t do often because esmeray is also very aggressive, even to her. she’s slain kings, conquered an entire realm, and tamed a dragon, but she can’t command esmeray totally.
