For the WIP may I ask for a wee little summary and peak of the one titled: - chai lessons
consider me most intrigued 🥰
squeeeee I won’t lie I was waiting for someone to ask about this one 🤭 it’s one of my faves at the moment
It’s a more Vika-centered little blurb, with little snapshots of her teaching each of the girls— and eventually Benny— how to make authentic Indian chai. It’s only half-done at the moment, but it’s so lovely getting to write my Vika becoming more comfortable in her skin as time passes and she becomes closer with the girls 🥹
Josephine, Jean, Juliet, and Vika race inside the Thompson home, giggling as they try to beat the raindrops and dark clouds at their heels.
“Well, there goes that idea,” Juliet huffs, looking out at the once-sunny garden now under a downpour.
The girls had been setting up for a little picnic out in the Thompson’s garden, which seemed fitting for Jo Harris and Jean Crosby’s first upstate visit while Juliet was on spring break — thankfully they hadn’t brought the food out yet, but spending the day outside was no longer on the cards.
“We still have the sandwiches, at least.” Jo nodded to the little platter on the counter.
“We do,” Jean nods, “But… well, I don’t know about you girls, but I’m not quite in the mood for that lemonade in the icebox anymore.”
The others nodded in agreement— the rain they hadn’t managed to outrun had left them all a bit chilly.
“Me neither,” Juliet nods, a slight shiver running through her, “Anyone up for some coffee?”
She begins rifling through the kitchen cabinets, her eyes lighting up as her gaze catches on something.
Her bright gaze turns to Vika.
“Vika, I still have those spices you gave me… I think I remember how to make chai, but I’d feel better if you helped me. Only if you want, of course!”
“Chai?” Jean echoes, looking from Jules to Vika and back again.
“Oh it’s this wonderful Indian tea, I’d have it practically every time I visited Vika when we were in school.” Juliet gushes, gesturing out the window at the pouring rain, “Just what we need on a day like today.”
She looks hopefully at Vika and, well… she can’t very well say no to her best friend, can she?
