Why be silent?
I can’t be silent about this anymore. I know this is not a new concept, but it’s new to me to write about it. It’s something I’ve been feeling for a long time.
We are way too disconnected. Too much individualism. What is it worth? Sure, we respect one another’s space, choice, etc., but so many people are doing so many unhealthy things and we say nothing because “It’s not my place,” “I don’t want to interfere,” or whatever we want to say to let ourselves off the hook from making a difference in someone’s life.
We’re too intimidated by other people’s reactions or too afraid that we’re being judgmental or that someone will judge us for things of our own. Maybe we’re subconsciously afraid that someone will then be able to approach us about our stuff and then we have to face it and change it, but we don’t want to need to change so we let other people make choices that hurt themselves and others.
Who says we’re judging if we approach someone and talk to them about their choices? Why can’t we be seen as doing this in love instead of judgement? What if when we do this, we can see both ourselves and the other person as being okay? What if they can see themselves and us as being okay? Then we can have the conversation and it isn’t about judgement but about love. When it’s seen as being from love, it can be received or rejected and both parties can still value each other.
