John Abraham cant act. That has been proved film after film. But he is a smart guy. Throw him in a realistic film with a great ensemble cast and then watch him perform. He makes you believe. Believe that he CAN. Parmanu- The Story of Pokhran does exactly that. Just like Madras Cafe, this is a film based on true events and is an edge of the seat thriller. It is a film which has noble intentions and almost succeeds in becoming a good film. It brings to screen the Pokhran chapter and how India pulled off an incredible event right under America's nose. It is a kind of film where a satellite is a villain and everyone is fighting to stay off the radar. Great plot and great performances aside, the film does bring about goosebumps from time to time which any thriller should. It could have been a much better film but who cares when you exit the theatre feeling proud about being an Indian. This is a brave film to make. It is devoid of the regular Bollywood razzmatazz but if this film works, then it would be a shot in the arm for Bollywood. Watch Parmanu. It is a chapter worth reliving! P.S- It is nice to see @anujasathe9 in a meaty role. She pulls off her part as John's wife with aplomb. And it is so nice to see @dianapenty as part of the core testing team wherein her sex is not questioned. Diana is stellar in her part.
