Eleanor had left. Eleanor had left and he didn’t believe that he would ever set his sights upon her again. It was for her own good, he knew. He knew that the supernatural life was hardly for her and that she deserved something so much better than she got. Being with him meant her untimely end. No one knew better than Elijah that things unfolded around them that led to complete disaster. He did not wish to wake one day and have something happen to her that she could not return from. Whether that be death or finding herself an immortal creature with a need for blood. He knew that neither of those were anything for her and she deserved to live the life she did. It was exactly why he watched her from afar. Some would call it stalking your…ex. After all, that was exactly what she was. She was his ex-girlfriend, even if what he felt and their shared time together meant so much more for them both. He just felt the need to take a break from New Orleans and make certain that she was okay, in whichever way she decided to live her life. A life that would be normal, give her all of the things that she deserved more than him.
He stood on the opposite side of the street as he watched, careful to make certain she couldn’t notice him. But as he stood there all he could think was about he wanted to be standing next to her. He didn’t wish to be as far apart as they were. For a moment he allowed his mind to wander as he envisioned himself by her side, holding her hand, being normal. Normal was never something obtainable, yet, with Eleanor it was a desire. He’d walk through the streets of the city and for a moment they would stop, her leaning forward and kissing him. It didn’t matter who saw. He only smiled and kissed her back with ease, no worry consuming him, just a love that remained as he watched her from afar. But the the moment broke almost as soon as it came, sending him back into reality, and there he was, watching and wishing that she simply found all she was looking for. Elijah wanted nothing more than for her to be happy.
“Sorry, what did you say?”
“I said I missed you, duh.”

I would hurt you or use you. | you unsettle me. | I dislike you or you annoy me. | I would like to get to know you better. | I pity you. | you confuse me. | I feel indifferent towards you. | I would be friends with you. | I would fight by your side. | I would hug you or hold your hand. | I would kiss you. | I would sleep with you. | I would lie for you. | I would protect you. | I would fall in love with you. | I would kill for you | I respect you. | you are my family. | I don’t know you.
The first shock had passed... he had tried to pick up the pieces of his life again, form a new routine, make the best out of it, even when that didn’t seem to be more than just drinking... and drinking a bit more. Today wasn’t any better, and he had just started his fourth, no, fifth glass when he suddenly heard a sound next to him. “I don’t think I’m the best company...” He didn’t finish his sentence, looking in shock at the person standing next to him. “I don’t know if it’s the best idea that I’m seen with you, darling...”

Eleanor’s name in Matt’s phone:
When Matt had to write down her name, he had not been sure if it was with an o or an a. So, to make sure he wouldn’t do it wrong, he had just written down Nor and he had not bother to change it later.
Eleanor’s picture in Matt’s phone:
Eleanor and Matt have been talking a lot, but they’ve not gotten to the point where they had been taking pictures of each other to put in their phone. Therefore he still hasn’t one. Maybe he’ll ask one day, but they have more important things on their minds.
Eleanor’s ringtone in Matt’s phone
It sounds a little strange, but he wanted to make sure that he knew that there was human calling. Therefore he had picked the song “Human” from Christina Perri for Eleanor.
Matt’s last text to Eleanor:
“I guess we need to talk about all of this. Can we meet somewhere?”
Matt was worried about Eleanor. Just like him she was only human, stuck in a world with vampires and monsters. He wanted to make sure that she knew her options and he wanted to help her when and where he could.
