EASTON, Windenburg (SNN) - - During a special ceremony at Royal Easton Museum on Friday, the Queen Mother unveiled a brand new portrait of herself to celebrate her three decades’ patronage of the Windenburg Red Cross.
Rowena, Queen Mother was the second-longest consort serving as patron of the charity from 1992 to 2023, next to Zarah, Queen Dowager who served from 1955 to 1992.
Dressed in an orange Princess of Dress and Hat VI by @rustys-cc, the Queen Mother, looked delighted as the new artwork by Martin Floyd was revealed.
This is the first time The Queen Mother has been depicted in a portrait wearing the Order of the Garter’s insignia.
The new portrait contains the Queen Mother also wearing the Lara-Leigh Pearl Tiara, whose namesake was the first consort to join the Order alongside her husband King Edward I. Although the Order was founded by Albert II, his consort, Adaline, died before becoming a member.
The palace also announced the Queen Mother would be taking up residence at Griffin Park. The estate is known for being the royal residence of consort, Lara-Leigh in their widowhood. Zarah, Queen Dowager remained at the palace after Edward II died in 1992, and will remain with her granddaughter, Queen Katherine I. The Queen Mother moved out of the palace last summer and had spent most of her time at Sumpterson.
