what ertras said reminded me of a quote that goes something like "the difference between an amateur and a professional is the professional performs even when they aren't inspired." also a thing i tell myself and my peers is "'work smart, not hard' is a good philosophy-- but if you can't work smart, just work hard." being motivated 100% of the time is not a requirement.

i’m missing the last book of millennium. the other two are in paperback. then, my harry potter collection is four in paperback and four in hardcover. the struggle is real.

re:: cretin stand partner - if talking to your stand partner doesn't work, and talking to your conductor doesn't help (i've been there... oh my), the next thing you can do is just tilt your chair way over--so your scroll is pointing at your stand, and your head is turned with it-- and turn pages as if your stand partner doesn't exist. ***bonus*** it might improve your posture, and you'll be used to fitting in a tight space if ever you need to play in a pit orchestra or on an itty bitty stage.

yipee! i do think i'll get all emotional for it eventually just i've never seen two guys play video games so calmly. ever. it just seemed really off to me :')

eat well, sleep well, and stick to a schedule. everything tends to work itself out.

for vibrato kid, it might be helpful to adjust your shoulder rest. basically, you should be able to support the instrument with no hands- just head/neck. there shouldn't be any tension. one teacher i know used to have people try with their left thumbs in their palms rather than on the neck to help with improving stamina and get used to relaxing the left hand.
