Even though she had been married to Amycus for nearly five months, she hadn’t had much alone time with Alecto, which truthfully, was fine by her. Alecto was intimidating, and Delilah didn’t know what the other woman thought about her, so she had mostly avoided her, when she was able to. But it seemed that her plan of avoiding her sister-in-law wasn’t going to work anymore.
Perhaps Amycus had noticed that she didn’t spend time with his sister, but it had been suggested to her that she have his sister over for tea this afternoon, and so Delilah had scrambled to make sure that everything looked perfect. Downstairs needed to look spotless, and the house elves had gone into overdrive to make sure that everything matched her standards. She felt more worried about Alecto coming over than she did when Narcissa or Laura came over. What if she didn’t like the tea that she served? Or the choices of pastries that she had gotten? One wrong move and she could tell Amycus about it, and well...things were rather...tense in the Carrow household the past few days.
She froze at the knock at the door. It was Alecto. She quickly looked down at herself, and decided that the dress that she was wearing was appropriate to entertain in and she went to the front door and opened it.
“Alecto! Come in,” Delilah said, smiling. Was her voice too loud? “You look lovely.”
