This is Caline, one of my students from last year, teaching seventy-some girls about leadership at our first meetings of GLOW (Girls Leading Our World) club. This has been a long time coming and a lot of work leading up, but I'm so proud of my kids. I've done almost nothing; all the planning and teaching is on them, and they've done a great job. Today I hated all of the teaching I did, and I was dreading having to stay another hour for club. It turned out to be the best hour of the day. It was a joy to see these girls step up and teach a roomful of younger students about topics that are important to them. I think I spent the entire hour smiling. We're watching Mulan and having a (very surface level) discussion of gender roles before we really hunker down for revision week. These kids are great. Some of them understand what's going on in the film. Some really don't. They all love Mushu, though, and constantly cheer when Mulan does anything successful. #teacherlife #thesekidstho #peacecorpsRwanda
