• BIOGRAPHY •
Theseus Noble was born and raised in Night Vale, like his parents, and theirs. His childhood was, like most people’s, a rather typical experience, his teenage years however, were a more complex thing. When he was fifteen, his best friend found an old book of magic in her attic, and for the next year and a half, the two of them would meet up by the train tracks between their houses, after the sun had gone down.
Small spells-- for luck, or happiness, or sleep were easy to do. Sigils written in sharpie marker, Latin incantations recited from pixelated photos of spell book pages. And for a while, they were content, but his best friend wanted more than that, wanted something more exciting than the dispersal of bad luck. The thing about a powerful summoning is that neither of them were prepared for it, and more can go wrong than with spells with low stakes.
The old spell book out in front of them, the two of them standing on the edge of a proper salt circle. Theseus has never been certain what exactly went wrong, except that there was a flash of light, and then he was lying on the ground, with a ringing in his ears, and his friend had wide eyes and talked about some great thing she’d seen in the flash of light.
Neither of them ever told any one what had happened that night and their friendship soon fell apart, her hunting down answers, and he decided that he’d seen enough of magic and mystery. Immediately after graduation, he started a bachelor’s of science at the community collage.
Now, Theseus works at the radio station as their weatherman. At least once a week, he has to try and drag the weather balloons down from the station roof from where they’ve escaped, and his office is a mess of [redacted] reports, and actual weather readings. He hasn’t done any spell work in almost a decade, and most days, he doesn’t miss it, taking more comfort from the sensible numbers and readouts of the weather.
