ALL GODS CHILDREN? This is certainly a novel I'll never forget. As if, mental illness within the Black community isn't a stepped-over issue, the story of murderer Willie Bosket Jr. is one that peels back the layers on a mind almost totally built to destroy. Without reference for violence and it's beginnings, one may assume that violence, or any other behavior has no foundation in anyone nationality or ethnicity. However, supplement this novel with titles like the Iceman Inheritance by Michael Bradley, or Stolen Legacy by George G.M. James, and violence will rear its ugly head in antiquity, along with sexism and pedophilia and pederasty prior to slavery. It's one thing to know you are violent, and have been violated sexually, in Bosket's case, but it's another thing totally to understand the root of these behaviors. His father, Butch Bosket, was also a murderer; and Butch's dad, a murderer and bank robber; and this is eventually a story traced back five generations into slavery, where Edgefield, South Carolina grafted onto the name Bosket, the terror that lives off of honor, and a reputation. I couldn't imagine knowing my Great-Great Grandfather was a borderline psychopath, just like me, so I can't imagine how Willie Bosket felt after reading this book, as he is currently serving three consecutive 25-Life sentences. What makes this all the more strange is the mental aptitude of himself and his father, Butch, who, although an amazing scholar in prison, to the point of obtaining his Master's Degree and being inducted into a Fraternity while in jail, could not get out of his own way, never finding peace and always returning back home--to prison. Willie Bosket Jr. also possessed a high IQ, to the genius level, but knowing the legend of his father stabbing two men only pushed his desire to be just like his dad even further. His goal eventually was the become the worst inmate in the history of NY, and the jail system. Beneath that desire, is his ancestry, which depicts why he may be, the way that he is. Give this one a shot. Photo by The Great @__GameSix ------------------------------------- #blacklove #thestreetstyler #BlackstylishMen #mensfashion
