Sturgis & Benjy || Lose your soul || June 19, 1978
Caradoc wasn't there that night, and maybe that was the first mistake. Spending time alone with Sturgis seemed like the next step in their friendship, anyway. Call it silly, but there were times when Benjy felt as though it was necessary to define himself without Caradoc by his side. Therefore he'd stepped up to the plate and followed his gut in asking inviting Sturgis over to his home to spend the evening with him alone, no one else except them. Benjy rarely ever did things like this unless with Caradoc. As much as he loved people, he was anti-social when it came to really letting them inside.
But he was letting Sturgis in. Oh, he was letting Sturgis in big time.
Starting off with his home. He rarely ever entertained anyone other than Caradoc, however here he was more than happy to welcome Sturgis inside. Considered at face value, Sturgis really wasn't that special - quiet, contemplative. Benjy had known him forever, however only very recently begun practically forcing his company on the other male. Benjy liked Sturgis without valid reasoning and for some reason disliked seeing Sturgis around Augustus Rookwood. It was what it was.
Perhaps while Benjy created his own identity away from Caradoc he could help Sturgis do the same in regards to Augustus (though he doubted Sturgis was as dependent as he was). Or maybe it was darker than that, maybe it was all simply an excuse to spend time with a new and shiny toy. A breath of fresh air. There was no use in trying to make sense of it. After all, it was affection without reason. Affection which allowed Benjy the comfort to dick around and poke fun at the the other male just for kicks. For amusement.
Quiet, contemplative, nothing too special Sturgis didn't exactly live up to his reputation in Benjy's eyes when he slammed his knuckles along Benjy's jawline eliciting a rush of pain and excitement. The act shook Benjy entirely, a single moment being all it took for Benjy to view Sturgis in an entirely new light, one which promised a challenge. And when the Hell did someone last care enough to challenge him? That moment changed a lot of things, but Benjy was too caught up in the heat of it to understand.
And so he laughed cold and wicked, a throaty rasp while he pressed his hand against his jaw to alleviate some of the pain, but his heart was still pounding strong, excitement bubbling deep within his chest. Mother fucker, he was eying daggers towards Sturgis. To be fair, they were sparring, but before Benjy could further rationalize anything else his hands were gripping the other male's shirt tight in his hands and speaking in a low voice he'd forgotten he was even capable of, "C'mon, big Sturg, now that aint playin fair." Benjy's jaw was clenching on and off as he stared into Sturgis's baby blues - seeing something more there but choosing to ignore it, "Let me guess, Death Eaters aren't a fair bunch now, are they?" And suddenly he was throwing his fist like a brick into Sturgis's stomach once, twice, thrice... before concluding with his hands cupping Sturgis's face, thumbing his cheeks lightly, breathing hard through his nose and wondering what Caradoc would say to this ordeal.
"Is that really all you've got?" Benjy feigned a pout, "Kimono intimidating you?" And really, he was just pissed off and running high on adrenaline.
