For the past 31 years, the numerous spaces within and around @the_substation have been important to many people in many different ways. For me, the space that I have had to negotiate the most with is the gallery space on the ground floor. The first time I ever showed anything to anyone publicly was in this space. It was a small group show that #KuoPaoKun conceived back in #1993 called #Memories. I showed three drawings that depicted the slow passing of my grandfather. Since then, I have made 4 solo exhibitions in this space. My sensibility about #exhibitionmaking was honed in this space. I cannot begin to describe how important those formative years have been to me, how important it was for Sasi, Jennifer, Weng, Audrey, Yuni, Su-May, to receive this over-energetic kid throwing all kinds of raw, unedited ideas at them and them never saying no. Next weekend is the last weekend that this version of #TheSubstation will exist. I don’t really know how to deal with this, and in so many ways, I don’t think I can ever know. #Goodbyes #NumerousThings (at The Substation) https://www.instagram.com/p/CRfH6PWlmhR/?utm_medium=tumblr
