how about carmen sandiego for femslash february? i’d love to hear ur ships!!
my favorite wlw/femslash ships of hers
I think my only ships for Carmen are Carulia and Carmivy, I just enjoy the dynamics and they’re both really cute. Ik there’s also a polyam ship with the three of them, and I think the Ivy/Julia dynamic would be really interesting esp since they both care about Carmen a lot
my femslash otp of hers
as cute as Carmivy is, I do prefer Carulia, no hate on people who prefer Carmivy, it’s just which I enjoy more! like i said before, I enjoy both ships and think they’re both cute!
my femslash notp of hers
uh, idk if these are ships, but Carmen w any of the VILE faculty (esp since they like. raised her since she was a baby) and Carmen x Sonia bc Sonia is a child iirc? basically any yucky ship with Carmen are my notps
best quality: heart of gold; she’s very willing to help out her friends on anything she can! An admirable quality.
worst quality: self confidence (and lack thereof). Doesn’t know if she’s good enough, and worries about her appearance a little too much. Seychelles, you look great, now stop thinking that you don’t
ship them with: Iceland mostly! But I’m always up for Hongicesey and Taisey!
brotp them with: Iceland, Cuba, and Cameroon! I hope they get more interactions in S7 😩 Himaruya, please....
needs to stay away from: England, the rat bastard. To another extent, France, the other rat bastard that pretends to be a peacock.
misc. thoughts: Love her and she needs way more content and appreciation. Also Seychelles should get more content that’s not wholly ship based; yeah sure shipping is fun but what about her dynamics with France and England (and I’m talking about historical hetalia and not a fluffy FACE family + Seychelles)? Or Cuba and Cameroon (the first of which probably would understand how she was mostly left to her own devices under colonizers and could sympathize, and the second of which would bond with her over animals, wildlife, beach football, and being ignored by most nations)? I am therefore humbly begging the Hetalia Fandom to do more research and give her the spotlight fdlksfad
Also a little bit of a shameless plug but I have a small fic about Seychelles and the ocean where she finally gets the spotlight she deserves
ok but i legit never considered scotnor as a ship... but when i saw ur blog... i’m interested about their history together 👀👀
Yeessss, please let me tell you!! I love them so much
It became quite long, but here is my quick summary of their history:
Relations between Scotland and Norway begins with the Viking Age. There is evidence of contact before that point, but don’t really know to what extent, so let’s go with the Viking Age. At this point there are three kinds of peoples living in Scotland; the Picts, the Britons, and the Gaels - all of which become Scotland. And as if all the fighting between these peoples weren’t enough, the Norsemen begin their raiding along the coast. This is mainly Norwegians - the Danes don’t care about Scotland; it’s further away than England and the climate and landscape are not inviting for those only familiar with absolutely flat land. But to Norwegians, Scotland is perfect. The landscape is somewhat similar to their own with islands, valleys and harsh weather, and the climate is warmer, so it’s easier to grop crops than back home.
After they raid for a while, the Norwegians make settlements on the islands along the coast, and even establishes an Earldom on the Orkney Isles, ruling the areas claimed. There are some instances where the earls and cheiftains of the Vikings co-operating with the locals, making deals and alliances.
The land in Scotland belonging to Norway continued to do so, even during the Norwegian Civil War from 1130 to 1240, a part of the Great Norwegian Realm consisting of Iceland, Greenland, Faroe Islands, Isle of Mann, Shetland, Orkney Islands, and the Hebrides, along with parts of todays Sweden, Finland, and Russia.
However, the Great Norwegian Realm came to an end in 1397 as a result of the Black Death and the Kalmar-union with Sweden and Denmark, which would after roughly 200 years, when Sweden left, become Denmark-Norway. In 1468, the Danish king gave Norways territory in Scotland as security against the payment of a dowry of his daughter to the Scottish king (this has never been payd). During this, Norway was one of the poorest countries in Europe, struggling as the Danish elite profited of the natural resources there, and on top of that also the most militarized country as Denmark’s wars with Sweden used mainly Norwegian soldiers to fight - especially in the border mountians and on the sea.
When in 1905 Norway became independant from Sweden, they recieved a message from the authorities on Shetland to the new king that “No ‘foreign’ flag is more welcome in our voes and havens than that of Norway, and Shetlanders continue to look upon Norway as their mother-land, and recall with pride and affection the time when their forefathers were under the rule of the Kings of Norway.”
During the second world war, Norwegian volunteers who managed to flee from their occupied homeland had a base in Scotland where they would make trips with small boats over to Norway, smuggling and helping the resistance.
After the discovery of oil in the North sea, Norway has created many jobs in Scotland (Aberdeen) for the Scots, and collaberated with Scotland. Norway imports whiskey from Scotland, and the countries has become a popluar turist stop for each other. Scotland even says they want to join the Nordic countries if they ever leave the UK. Scots really enjoy the Norwegian landscape and celebrate their relationship, always speaking good of Norway.
In my experience both Scots and Norwegians now-a-days really look up to each other and are quick to appreciate their similarities and admire their differences.
