I wrote this for Lydia. I sent it to her over text. She told me to put it on tumblr so here it is.
Everyone is yelling at each other. It's chaos. Pepper sips her glass of water. She'll break it up in a minute. Pepper knows it's good to let them get some of it out of their system. She notices the giant tree, Groot they called him, looking at her drink. He seems nice. Not at all riled up by all the chaos. He smiles at her. She gives a small smile back. A giant tree. That can only say three words. One of them is his own name. Her knowledge of pokemon is extremely limited. Mostly to pikachu. But that's what he reminds her of. She holds her glass out to him. He can have it if he wants. He is a plant right? His smile gets even bigger, my God he's the cutest thing, takes the glass and downs it all. "I am Groot." He says to her. "Your welcome." She doesn't need to speak Groot to make a good guess that he was saying thanks. She watches now, with wide wide eyes, as his arm begins to grow and head towards the arguing crowd. It passes in front of each person and a flower begins to grow in front of each of them. Everyone stops arguing to stare. She watches their new "friends" the Guardians take the flowers without missing a beat and tucking them behind their ears, even the big extremely literal one. She watches the raccoon, a freaking talking raccoon from another planet are you freaking kidding me, puts his hand behind his back and rests his paw on the gun. "Everybody best take their flower or I start shooting." Tony turns his head towards Pepper, Pepper nods her head, as if to say 'don't be fucking rude'. Tony takes the flower and tucks it behind his ear. Everyone else follows suit. The yelling has been subdued slightly. It's quieter now. Voices only slightly raised. Way more civilized. Pepper turns to Groot and holds out her hand. "Pepper Potts." "I am Groot." His arms retracts back to him and in his hand he holds a flower, bigger than the others, to Pepper. She takes it and tucks it in her hair. "Thank you." "I am Groot."
