Like a Puff of Smoke II Kyle & Victoria
The night was still, disturbed only by the crash of surf against the sea wall, and he breathed in the crisp salt air appreciatively. It had been a king, long time since he'd made a point of coming down to the harbor, and it was nice to lay here, bathed in naught but the light of the sister stars. Dew was beginning to settle beside him on the blanket, but that was alright-- a little water never hurt anyone, and he liked the chill. It made him feel more alive, more in this moment.
Humming a tune beneath his breath, Kyle fixed his sharp gaze on the velvet sky that stretched above him. Ursa minor, Orion's Belt, the North Star-- no moon, never any moon when he came star watching with Victoria. It was better this way, with the dark and the endless black yawning before them.
He didn't know how long he'd been waiting-- an hour, five minutes-- but it didn't matter. One way or another, she'd show up, just like she always did. Just like he always did. Their monthly tradition was somewhat sacred, at this point, if a bit silly... it was just something they'd always done.
Settling himself more comfortably into the worn blanket, Kyle closed his eyes to the brilliance of the sky, content to wait.
