The Deadly Exchange for Beauty
“Our kingdom will now welcome anyone that would be willing to expose my daughters’ whereabouts at night within three days. If they succeed , they shall choose one to be wife and they shall take my throne. If they fail, I shall take their head,” announced the king of Germany.
The king’s sons from nearby regions decided to take on the challenge. The deal was too extravagant to be a great idea to risk for in my opinion. However, the princesses are great trophies that every men of the land wanted to risk their lives to keep.
After what seems to be a week, two nearby kingdoms mourned upon the death of their princes and their stolen bodies.
In the middle of the night, when the moon was there to guide. I crawled on the grass and reached the shadows behind the castle of the German kingdom. The air froze my nose which made me lose the sense to smell. I threw the rope with a metal claw end in a borrowed opening. A loud scratch noise was projected from the collision of the metal set on stone. My movement stopped. Nothing was interrupted after it so I proceeded my climbing. It was high enough to bare but yet my heart disagreed by thumping a tantrum. Trying to balance myself, I glided my bare feet along the rough maroon carpet but my arms started to shake uncontrollably. The carpet ended. I looked up at a dark wooden door with a beautiful embroidered portrait of the mother of twelve, hysteria embraced me. The moon leaked through clouds and it shined on the eyes of the mother, which in a flash, I saw it mottled with blood. I feared to move while caution seeped in.
“It’s time to go little one, we will not wait for you for long, we must help papa with dinner,” retorted the voice of a princess from the other side of the door.
“Yes, sister. Shall I concoct the biceps with his fingernails or biceps with his tongue?” said a voluble one.
“We’ll decide on it soon, all twelve of us and papa,” said an exhilarated one.
A screech then resonated from the room to me and continued on in the vast medium. The echoes extended itself through the halls. Something evicted through the bottom of the door. The expel of liquid, oh warm liquid, contracted the bottom of my feet.
Then there was silence.
