Which character is your favorite to write in Absolutely no adventures?
Hmm, probably the witches--Bea on the main show and Sibella in Necessary Evil.
Bea is really easy to write. She's from our world so I don't have to be careful about like, "Oh, this character is from a fantasy world so he wouldn't know this word. What's a good replacement?" Secondly, Bea is a lot more bubbly than I am, but we do have a lot of shared interests and opinions and hot takes. It's really fun to have her make all the references that I would make in the same situations and go off about the same things like scansion or fantasy world etymology. And also, I just really enjoy writing a character who is so positive and effusive. She's very free with compliments--when Bea meets a new person, the first thing she says to them is almost always a compliment (Luxe's hair, Ana's necklace, Delphine's clothes). It's a great contrast to the rest of the cast.
And then Sibella is fun because her voice is this really specific mix of performative and sincere and I love finding where that line is in every episode. Like, she will toy with Adelaide and be very droll and dismissive to her because she doesn't respect her and enjoys frustrating her. But when she's teasing Xander, while she is keeping the Big Bad Evil Queen shtick going, it's a lot softer around the edges because she immedietly has a soft spot for him that just gets softer as time goes on. Also, she talks in this heightened, dramatic way that means I get to use words I love but have no opportunity to use most of the time because the kind of character I usually write would never say them.
