The word is the account of God’s relentless pursuit to reconcile with humanity. It is a collection of stories proving God is faithful, sovereign, and constant.
The Bible is a reliable collection of historical documents written by eyewitnesses during the lifetimes of other eyewitnesses. The bible reports prophesies that are fulfilled, and have not been proven wrong. (Thanks, Ian)
It is the inherent word of God, the inerrant word that is not lost in translation. The gospel is clear: For God so LOVED the world, he gave his one and only son so that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
We must realize our sinfulness. For ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). We must realize the consequences of our sin - death. But we MUST come to see how though our sin is great in number, God’s love and grace is great in power. The more I see my sin, the more I see his grace. Though sin increased, grace increases all the more (Romans 5:20).
The word is a gift, and God SPEAKS through the word. We preach grace, but we must preach urgency of the gospel.
Lord, help me be eager to share your name, through my words and through my actions. May I decrease, and may you increase.
