Okay well now you HAVE to tell me about G date!!!! I need to know

I am taking Gerard to my favorite underground venue in Japan (Ikebukuro BlackHole) and giving him an introduction to the visual kei scene! I am very parasocial about this and i think Gerard would LOVE it. (They've been to Japan a lot obv but I've yet to see any mention about being exposed to the underground vk scene at all)

We are going to see my favorite band Zera of course, but if G gets into it I will show them a lot of other bands later and maybe they will pick a fave. Visual Kei is a music scene of bands where guys wear elaborate or shocking makeup and costumes and play metal/punk/rock music with melodic vocals. The music goes hard, the gender lines are blurred to hell, and the fans are mostly women which creates a uniquely cool atmosphere that I think G would eat right up.

Capacity of BlackHole is only 250 so its nice and intimate, plus ppl at lives will not crowd each other! everyone gets their own little bubble of personal space to move around in without having to touch each other. I'll find us a nice place in the back and explain to G that vk lives have something called "furitsuke" which is choreography that the fans make to go along with each song. Because we are in the back, we get to watch the fans in the front rows and copy their movements along with the song (they aren't too difficult). Its very fun and energetic and is a way to give a 'show' back to the artist while they perform for us and is something that's unique because of the intimate relationship between a small band and their fans like this. I personally find it very satisfying because it allows me to get out energy and feel connected to the music, while also having a clear set of rules and instructions to follow along to which can feel safe? As I said, I'm being parasocial but I think it's something G would really enjoy as well. Example below ⬇️

(That venue is like 5x the size of BlackHole, but its a nice professional recording. Recording is NOT allowed by audience members, so everyone is allowed to be in the moment.)

After the show we are buying merch together and I will make sure G gets a photo ticket to meet and take a pic with their fave band member and I will go along with to poorly translate for them lol.

AFTER THAT we are going to a late night coffee shop and drinking coffee while looking out over the city 😌

I think I'm definitely taking him to a metal show. A good one, with a pit and headbanging, and a wall of death or two and we'll be beat up but its fine. In between songs and acts I can lean against him and ask him about what the guitarists are doing and let him ramble off all kinda of technical guitar talk in my ear. Afterwards we are going back to his place so I can bully him into letting me play around with one of his bass guitars (I have no idea how to play and don't really plan to, but i want him to show me how anyway 🤷) Then we fall asleep while he puts on one of his favorite horror movies. The next day we are sore as hell and take a nice long hot bath with some fancy bath bombs to recover 😌
