Tallest Building
The tallest inhabited building in the world is the Sears Tower, the national headquarters of Sears Roebuck & Co., on Wacker Drive, Chicago, with 109 stories, rising to 1,454 feet. It is due for completion in 1974. Its gross area is 4,400,000 square feet (101.0 acres). It was topped out on May 4, 1973, surpassing the World Trade Center in New York in height at 2:35 p.m. on March 6, 1973 with the first steel column reaching the 104th story. The addition of two TV antennas will bring the total height to 1,800 feet.
