8. Cheek kiss

Kaura hadn’t even known Jaime was there. She’d gone down to the practice yard in the Red Keep in order to train some. The days spent in the capital had left her without time to train, and yet without a chance to swing a sword, so her arm was feeling a little rusty.

As she arrived, eyes all turned to her in surprise and very quickly to scorn. A woman in armor. A few people told her to go back to the kitchens. Some told her she could come to their chambers later. She ignored them all until some pompous Lord or another called her out above the rest.

"This is a warrior’s yard!" he shouted. "Be gone!"

Kaura’s temper had been prodded just enough at that point to conjure a retort. As she opened her mouth, however, another voice cut across her. “I’ll have you know, my Lord, that this woman is a personal guard to the Hand of the King!” Kaura did not face her defender as she was afraid he might use the situation to mock her.

"Truly?" the other said. "My apologies, lady."

"Now, clear out, all of you. Go on!" The men did as Jaime Lannister commanded. No one disobeyed the Kingsguard.

When they were gone, Jaime crossed to the nervous Northern girl and dipped his head in greeting. “You are free to use the yard as you will.”

Not trusting herself to speak, Kaura nodded, then slipped up onto her tiptoes to brush her lips against his cheek almost without even touching him. Then, she hurried away, blushing as red as the Keep around them.

"My name day when I turned eight. There was this lovely celebration — I had spent the entire day with Mother. She brushed my hair then and she has done that only twice — that day and the day before I left for Dorne. I danced with Father at the feast, though he smelt of wine and at times he was about to lose his balance. I also danced with Lord Uncle who asked me wonderful riddles. Tommen was also radiant and for once, Joffrey seemed to be rather nice too."

Flynn: My Biggest dream .

"Return home. I would not mind if Trystane came with me. I would love Tommen to meet him. He would teach him Cyvasse and all those amusing games he knows. I wish to see my Lady Mother once again, I wish to see you, ser Uncle. I have heard that something horrifying happened to you and my Lord Uncle but I also heard that you still stand strong which does not surprise me. I wish to see Tommen as well, has he grown taller? I am sure he must. He must joust like a Knight now, I imagine he will be as good as you. I know, it’s not such a great dream but it means a lot to me. I would wish things to be as they used to be but of course, I know that’s simply silly and impossible to happen."
