Tumblr Invisible Followers...

Hey, I don’t know how much attention this will get, but if you’re like me and your tumblr page says you have 50 or ‘X’ amount of followers but you only can see 10 real ones (as in real actual living, breathing people blogs and not stone cold bots) then I might have a temp solution to this.

When your new follower’s a bot but INVISIBLE:

Disclaimer: This solution may not work if you have opted out of receiving emails/notifications for new followers!! This solution may also take a good chunk of time, so be sure you have a clear schedule!

Also, side note, I’m not much of a computer whiz so if someone’s gonna talk code with me or fancy computer stuff, I’m sorry,  I won’t understand. :’(

TL:DR: Use your email account to find out all the blogs that are following you (based on notifications). Manually block fake/bot accounts.

Detailed Solution below cut!

Temp solution (Detailed version for n00bs like me):

If you have your tumblr account linked to your email, you should get an email every time you gain a new follower.

Go into your email account and search for new follower notifications (results may vary based on how much activity you do on tumblr)

In another window or tab, access your tumblr account. Go into settings [can be found by clicking the little person in the upper right hand corner on desktop tumblr ((not sure about mobile))].

Once in settings click on the blog which has the invisible follower’s problem under ‘Blogs’.

Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page, there you’ll find Blocked Tumblrs. Click on the little pencil icon on the right of ‘Blocked Tumblrs’.

You can manually type in followers to block there. I know this will be time consuming, but I figure it’s better than having invisible bots follow you till the end of time.

When I did this, I was super surprised to find I have a whole hoard of bots following me and I had no clue!

anyway i said this on my other blog, but i really wish callouts existed when i was getting hypersexualized by a man 28 years older than me when i had just turned 18. him KNOWING i had just turned 18 and knew me when i was 17 because he CLEARLY waited for me to be legal. i wish callouts existed, because i'm sure i wasn't the only one he did it to. i'm sure i wasn't the only one he called mature for my age and made it seem like the gap wasn't such a big deal. so i really side eye folks that be out here like: 'just block/ignore them' or 'there must be a more mature way to handle it' because its not like people aren't going out of their way to calmly talk to them before they make a callout (which is a lot more than they deserve). so i will continue to support callouts and continue to reblog them to alert everyone on my dash about any toxic/disgustic person.
