BENEFIT: Date Night With Mr. Right
Review 2: Benefit They’re Real! Mascara
Here’s installment two~
(Disclaimer: These reviews are in my humble opinion. Occasionally, when there is a problem with texture, color, or “wearability,” the characteristics of the product can change depending on the skin type of the people who use it.)
The Benefit mascaras are kind of legendary, and I feel like every MUA on Youtube uses Roller Lash or the BadGal Lash or some form of Benefit mascara.
I spent a hefty $24 on this beauty (and I’m a cheap mf), so I was expecting results. Truthfully, I was underwhelmed. It’s nice and the formula is fine, but the wand is super spiky and the spikes are SHARP. I’ve poked my eye, made it water, and ruined all my makeup on more than one occasion.
Honestly, the Roller Lash or BadGal Lash mascaras are probably a little safer for injury-prone folks like me. I have the mini-version of the BadGal Lash that I’m not particularly fond of. If you’re hardcore though, and you have $24 to spend, give this mascara a try.
Overall, 7/10. The formula is whatever, but I need not use mascara that threatens to gouge out my eye. I’ll stick with my Maybelline Plush.
THEY EXIST!
Don’t get caught up in the hype! Real opinions from an every day girl on the Benefit “They’re Real Eyeliner”
Okay, so I am a massive fan of Benefit cosmetics as a whole. Most of my make up bag is benefit and yes it's expensive but I feel it's worth it because most of the products last a really long time and are really good quality. However, I can't help but feel that one of Benefit's most popular product- the "They're Real Eyeliner" has been shrowded in unjustified hype. I had my make up done at the benefit counter in December and the make up artist used the eyeliner on me and I loved it! I previously used liquid liner and just loved the finish that the benefit eyeliner gave me. HOWEVERRRRRR!! As most of you non-make up artists know, there is a massive difference between what your make up looks like and how it applies at the make up counter and how it applies at home. I was just very confused when I tried to use it because massive lumps of eyeliner come out when you twist it which would be ok but I was advised to wipe this on a tissue then apply my the eyeliner. There are some major problems with this! 1) WHAT A WASTE OF EYELINER- SOME OF US CANNOT AFFORD TO WASTE EXPENSIVE COSMETICS!! 2) Surely there could be a better design of the nib of the eyeliner or the dispenser so it either is able to apply this massive amount of eyeliner evenly and neatly (it definitely is not at the moment as I tried to apply it to avoid wasting the liner and the result was simply horrendou haha). The design of the eyeliner I love I really do. I think it's a great idea and seems so simple. However, I really don't think it's as simple as it first looks and after reading some reviews online it seems I am not alone! I first realised that the benefit eyeliner was a bit of a hype when I went to work and saw a girl I worked with wearing fab eyeliner. I asked her which one it was and she said it was just a normal mac gel eyeliner in a pot and she applied it with a brush. To be honest I felt a bit conned becuase hers seemed to stay more in place and just looked generally neater (I did accept that it could have just been my very un-steady hand!). My final point on the liner is how long it lasts. I bought it late December and it had ran out by early February, this is not something i'm used to with Benefit cosmetics as they normally last me months and months. I think the main casue of this is how much it dispenses unnecessarily. Since it ran out I was in two minds whether to re-purchase it but seen as I couldn't really afford to purchase it again I thought it'd get a "temporary" eyeliner and then make a decision. I purchased the Rimmel 24 Hour gel liner which came in a pot with a brush. I absolutely love this product! I am by no means an artist and I found it way easier to apply and I actually think it lasts longer without smudging. This retails at £6.99!! I thought this was just fab and just far better value for money. So in summary, this may seem like a rant but I genuinely love Benefit products and I did not want other people to get caught up in the excitment of this eyeliner as I did. Dear Benefit, this is not a break up! I love you and it breaks my heart I didn't love this product. Hope this helps for some people questioning whether to buy it. Han xxx
Well I got a sample from this in my Elle magazine elleuk makeuptips- I was so excited as I am not the best at eye lining! Anyway... It was so hard to use and that's not just because I am butter fingers! You can't control how much liquid comes out so you can either end up with none or a big clump! I wasted most of the liquid as it just came out in solid clumps! As I used it on my eye, it just seemed to be uneven and blotchy! So for a very inexperienced eye liner user, it was just no good!
Benefit They're Real Beyond Mascara Review
Being a typical sixteen year old girl, I constantly have the troubles of finding that perfect mascara that transforms my eyelashes. As soon as I enter high street stores like Superdrug or Boots I make it my mission to find that brand new mascara that has been featured in magazines and Television advertisements. Due to this, I usually come home with at least one mascara that is used until I find the next amazing one... the most I have paid for a mascara at a high street store would usually be £10.99 which I think is affordable however when the mascara is just averagely ok, I am practically paying the same amount each time for very similar products.
I absolutely LOVE benefit make up and as soon as I go into department stores that is the first counter I will drive myself to. One thing that attracts me to makeup products is the packaging as well as the formula. I know that this shouldn't be the case and I shouldn't 'judge a book by its cover' but I cant help but be attracted to the glossy, beautiful looking packaging. The Benefit They're real beyond mascara has a beautiful silver/grey outer packaging and just looks very sophisticated and lavish!
One of the main reasons why I bought the mascara was because I always see reviews on it and lots and lots of YouTube videos about how amazing it is! So why not purchase it! And that's exactly what I did.
Once I purchased it, I was soooo excited to try it and I couldn't contain myself so I took my current mascara off and tried it AND....WOW! The formula is just fantastic, you can kiss clumps away forever and the formula glides onto your lashes and separates them brilliantly. The mascara also gives your lashes that lift that enhances your eyes and makes you look instantly awake. It is very rare to find that product that can make you eyelashes have that amazing 'false lash effect' and this is exactly what this mascara does. The best thing about it is that you don't have to hesitate to layer the formula up, as no excess mascara flakes or clumps!
To perfect the eyelashes Wiggle the thick brush from the base of lashes to the ends for the full volumizing and lengthening effect. Maneuver the brush’s tip to catch those elusive bottom lashes and you will have the best lashes. Some people say its a nightmare to remove but personally I have never had this problem and all you need is a excellent cleanser and your god to go! I have been using this mascara for about 2 weeks and I have had countless compliments about how flawless my eyes look. Even though it is more pricey that any other mascara I have used it simply is the best and I will definitely be repurchasing it in the future as a luxury.
Have a good day my lovelies!

this is the beauty I bought!
