I got an advanced review copy of @georgehtakei's graphic novel THEY CALLED US ENEMY from Top Shelf Productions. Incredible read. Takei movingly tells the tale of his time in the Japanese internment camps during WW2. It's heart wrenching and often infuriating but beautifully told/drawn. As someone of half Asian (Filipino) descent, Takei has been a constant inspiration to me since I first saw him in Star Trek reruns when I was a child. And as a young actor (former now), he continued to do so. His talent, activism and love are a true gift to this world. The book is brutally honest and I'm glad Takei decided to tell it in this form. Hopefully his story will reach a new audience. I'll be talking about this in an upcoming episode of my podcast COMIC NEWS INSIDER. And there is a very tiny hope that I'll be able to interview him at San Diego Comic Con next week! Fingers crossed as it would be a dream come true. Book is out next week.
