The last couple of days have been awesome!

Sunday: Woke up and went to church. Then I came home and got a lot accomplished before going to a very productive chapter. It's only the 2nd one of the year and I already know that this semester is going to be great! 

Monday: I woke up, cleaned the apartment, and went to the grocery store. I made a fantastic dinner and had a good night with friends. I went to bed feeling great!

Today: Got an early start on the day. But I kinda had to because my tag expired and I needed to go to the tax collector's office to renew it. That meant a trek through the city. But it was nice to see a different part of the city than I normally see. I saw a group of homeless people in a line to get food in a park. I was so humbled. I have so much and can be so unthankful.  But then I went to work... where I got sent home early. And while that's not the greatest situation, It allowed me to go to an SAI meeting that I would have missed otherwise. I went to class and came home, where I'm sitting now. 

It's been a great day. Now I'm going to watch a little more TV then go to bed. And hopefully... tomorrow will be another great day!

Hallelujah!

I survived my first week back in school. It was full of syllabi, quizzes on those syllabi, and introduction discussions. Next week starts the real work.

I'm 24 now. What!?! This is crazy to me. I can't seem to be able to wrap my mind around it. This year I feel older. But let's be clear. Not old. Older. This past year has definitely been a year of change. Some good. Some not so good. But you live and you learn. Taking the bad with the good. And I know that things are not finished changing. Its a process.  As Frozen says: "Everyone's a bit of a fixer-upper. That's what it's all about. We need each other to raise us up and round us out." (I know. I just used a Frozen quote... But i've been listening to it for days.)

Over the past two days, I've seen so much of what I have to be thankful for. I have a fantastic family, a great group of friends that have become my framily. I have a place to live and food to eat. A job that I enjoy and many luxuries that I don't need. And I definitely don't say thank you enough. I don't take enough time to stop and be grateful.

So as this new year of my life begins, here's to learning from the old, looking forward to the new, and always remembering what's important. Keeping first things first and last things last. Achieving my goals and finishing them strong.

Here's to being 24. And all that will come with it.

Nothing is better for the soul than going to the beach with two of your closest friends. All of the laughter and catching up was definitely what I needed. Soaking in the sun and a walk along the beach followed by daiquiris, fresh doughnuts, and window shopping. It was a beautiful Saturday and nothing could have been better.

Tons of laughter filled my apartment tonight. It's been a long time since the last large get together where I genuinely had a good time. I have a great group of friends who are more than I could ever ask for. I don't deserve them, but I am super thankful that they choose every single day to be a part of my life. Things are looking brighter. Everything's gonna be alright!

Monday Night Musings

Hi friends!  I've been staying super busy. I worked a lot of hours this weekend! (YAY money! Boo I missed church!) But I will be super excited about the extra money after I move in 2 1/2 weeks. Moving costs so much money! Its ridiculous. I've also been trying to pack a box every other day or so. I've become great at Tetris: moving edition. And each box has a colored tape on it that corresponds to what room it goes in. Hopefully this will make unpacking easier. I have a great group of friends that are pros at moving so it's going to be easy breezy. (Here's to hoping!!!)

I've also still been working on getting healthier! As of yesterday, I have lost a total of 12 pounds. {I would insert a transformation picture here, but I can't find the cable to connect my camera to my computer. :( Sorry.} I was going to try food journaling, but I can't keep up with it. I leave it at home, or I forget, so that's not going as well as I hoped. But maybe once things calm down, I can start working on that. For now, I'm trying to eat smaller portions periodically throughout the day. Making sure I take snacks (usually fruit) to work to eat in the early afternoon and a small lunch so I don't eat Subway everyday. (Subway, if you happen to read this, I'm not saying you made me overweight. I'm saying I love your food and it's right in front of me at work, so it's hard to say no. If I pack my lunch, I don't want to spend money. Please read above if you missed that part on why I don't want to spend money) But anywho. Every week, I am making small improvements. And slowly moving toward my goal. I'm still in range of getting there and I know I can do it!

On another note, one of my friends and I are planning a murder mystery party! After much debate, we finally picked a date and we will be hopefully sending out booklets this week!!! I am so excited! It is wild west themed and will be a blast! WE have 10 people that will be playing the game and myself and my friend are co-hosting! It's going to be quite the get together! (I think from all the exclamation points, you can tell that I'm super excited about this.) I will take pictures and share with you after the event. I'll also let you know how it goes.

Tonight was also Medicare Monday. But no one that was there did any medicare-ing. Oh well. Sometimes we need to be adults.

That's about my life right now. Working, packing, wild west party planning, and housework. I'm exhausted, but I'm gonna make it! No worries!

I'm Back!

I know I've been gone for awhile, but life started getting a little crazy.

I'm working more, which means I come home, make dinner, clean up a little, watch an episode or 2 of the current show my roommate and I are on, then pass out for the night. That doesn't leave much time for blogging.

My apartment search has been riddled with complications. But, thankfully, yesterday we turned in an application and today we got a call that we were fully approved. (Now all I need to do is work some more hours so I can afford to actually move. And so continues the cycle)

I've been working on eating better. So far, in the last month, I've lost 10 pounds! Go me! Maybe this weekend I'll post a update picture. I went to the grocery store and only shopped the perimeter. I brought home all of the healthy food. And really... I don't miss the processed stuff that is in the middle isles. I haven't started exercising yet. I know that will speed up the weight loss, but I just haven't gotten motivated enough to do it. Me and exercise haven't gotten along very well in the past.

I'm packing up my apartment for the big move which will occur 3 weeks from yesterday. I sit on the couch and look around at all of the things that will need to be packed up, especially in the kitchen. I'm not excited about it. Thankfully, I have some great friends that always come to my rescue whenever we need help moving! They've helped me move several times and by now know how this process works!

Speaking of all of the things, I am super proud of myself. I have bagged up tons of stuff that I am going to take to a thrift store. If you know me well, you know I have a lot of stuff... So going through everything has been good. 

I'm definitely going to try to be more consistent with my blogging. Even if I don't have a lot of followers, it's a nice way to look back at what I've been doing with my life.
