Delilah felt like she was stuck in a nightmare. All she wanted was to wake up, and for Edgar to still be alive. She hadn’t accepted that she would never see him again. She was still so sure that it was a nightmare. It had to be a nightmare. She had been withdrawn since the day that she read the newspaper and learned of Edgar’s death, and she didn’t care what Amycus thought of her behavior. None of it mattered. She just wanted to cry all the time, just wanted to pull away from everyone that she knew. All she wanted was Edgar. And she couldn’t believe that she was at his funeral. She felt sick to her stomach as she pushed the doors open, hoping that she could just stay in the background and then slip away before anyone knew that she was there. She knew that nobody would understand. She knew that if Amycus found out that she was there, he wouldn’t understand. He would ask questions she didn’t want asked. But she needed to be there. She had to. She loved Edgar. She needed to be there. But she knew that she didn’t belong.
She finally got the courage to open the doors and she stepped into the room and froze when she came face to face with Amelia Bones. She hadn’t planned on speaking to anyone, especially not Edgar’s sister. And yet...she was right there.
“I-I’m so sorry,” She managed to say.
