idk how much i'm gonna yap about this, but i'll try to hold back. :'3
in truffula flu, joel is traveling with topher and their two cats luka and queso. though he's often worried about topher and the kittens, joel isn't as worried about his own well being. joel thinks he's completely capable to survive this chaos with ease and that he's liberated thanks to society crumbling along with all it's norms. if anything, this is a fucked up blessing for the aftermath-ler. joel will go out and search places he shouldn't, looking for supplies or just to sate his own curiosity. eventually, this lands him in some 'he talked shit' moments or just generally worried his boyfriend to death moments which will eventually curb his impulses… hopefully.
for his fighting style, i'd say he's very rouge based. joel doesn't usually do hand to hand combat, but he's good at sneaking around and placing some traps for a zombie to fall into. if and when it comes down to it, he's has a dagger on him, a grappling hook, or he will use whatever pipes or garbage around him to defend himself when needed/available. joel mostly keeps lock picks, glass cutters, more rope, and a laser pointer on him rather than bulky weapons or anything that could get stuck since he's likely to be in a smaller crawlspace.
eventually, i think the four will find once and grey and hopefully stay with them. topher really brings a lot to the table for that group and joel can help get the supplies his boyfriend needs; meanwhile, once's place would be a good safe haven for them and an actual stable place to live vs swapping out cars and homes every other week like they'd need to when they're on their own.
