So much noise. So much damn noise. And so late at night, you might as well call it morning, dammit! A few exasperated grumbles wormed their way through his lips as Lionell did his best to try and block out the excessive racket outside: pillow over the head, plugging his ears, both simultaneously, nothing he did was enough to blot out the deafening commotion outside! With a frustrated shout and flourish of his sheets, he worked his way to his feet and stalked towards the door of his hotel room.
He supposed he should’ve seen this coming; a shithole like this obviously wouldn’t be located somewhere quiet and serene. No, it was in the rundown ghetto where just taking a simple walk around the block might get you mugged or worse. Yet with the limited amount of funds he had, a.k.a none, it was all that kept him from sleeping on the curb or a gutter somewhere. Thank god the owner was willing to substitute money for labor...
“Just what in the hell is going on out here?!” Busting out into the cool, night air in his boxers made Lionell stop to think about how this would look to any bystanders but he was too pissed to truly care! Police sirens blared even louder without the confines of his room to muffle them and flashing lights temporarily disoriented him before he could get a good look at the scene before him. Dozens of cops were forming some sort of blockade on the street and Lionell couldn’t help the glare that wormed its way onto his face. He knew it wasn’t their fault, that they were just doing their job... but damn, if it wasn’t fucking annoying!
Right when he was about to yell out his grievances to the civil servants, a glorious racket sounded from a nearby alleyway before a fucking car came careening onto the road. Shouts of astonishment and surprise left the men in blue and he had to bite his tongue from joining them! Seeing as the cops rushed to get into their cars and give chase, his well-trained sense of perception told that was the guy they were hoping to stop and apprehend.
Yet... hold on. Did he just see-? It was almost indiscernible amongst the chaos of the rushing perpetrator, the lights, the infernal racket, but he could’ve sworn he saw something flash as it flew from the backseat of said man’s car. Almost certainly. He waited for the law enforcement to leave before making his way to the disheveled yard. Whatever he saw had to be around here somewhere...
“!!!!” What luck... What fucking luck! A beautiful sapphire that was about the size of his whole palm was just resting in the grass, like a fallen shooting star or gift from God themselves!
