Oh gosh. Cannon era Feuilly who’s had awful experiences with doctors/hospitals/the medical profession. Maybe because he’s trans, or because he’s poor, or because he’s politically involved. He’s experienced a lot of discrimination/the threat of it, and he just never had a doctor he could go to without feeling afraid for his safety.
And then he meets Combeferre and Joly and suddenly he has medically trained people who care about his well-being. And if he’s hurt or sick he can get help.
And he’s had such bad experiences in the past that he still gets nervous if he has to walk past a hospital or clinic, but he calms himself down by saying “No. No. Think of Combeferre. Think of Joly.”
And help I’ve made myself sad.
