Things Horror Hipsters say...Can you think of any more?
As a self-proclaimed horror movie fanatic I think it is fair to say that I have seen my fair share of films from this fantastic genre... I love many classics, but I don't frown upon people who love the Hostel franchise or the Nightmare on Elm Street remake (mainly because I make up a part of those people...). I leave that for the horror hipsters. Within horror circles there will always be one who swears that he only watches the "golden oldies" of horror and that torture porn is for the simpletons of this world. I love a deep film as much as the next- but it's great to just sit back and enjoy some mindless gore à la Saw sometimes. A true horror fan appreciates the cheesiness and even the bad acting sometimes. Here is a list of things that are bound to come out of your hipster friend's stupid hipster mouth.
"Oh I only watch low-budget 70s horror."
"I’m really into postmodern, self-referential horror at the moment- Cabin in the Woods was such a great film."
"Modern horror is mindless violence, I need profound meaning and political undertones from what I am watching."
"Oh no I don’t watch any Hollywood-endorsed horror with their hidden agendas...Indie films all the way."
"Silent movies are the scariest ones...I just loved Nosferatu"
"You haven’t seen *insert unknown indie horror here*? And you call yourself a real horror fan!"
"I just can’t stand Horror remakes- Retro is best!...You can’t beat the originals!"
"Less is definitely more when it comes to gore- the scariest things are what is left to my imagination"... (err no, more gore please!)
"NOTHING beats Hammer Horror"
"Hollywood horror pales in comparison to *foreign country* movies. I for one loved Du Welz’s Calvaire..."
if she doesn't have a record in her hand then she ins't easy to talk to
