Here's several dynamics I hate: first " I am the best disabled person in the world. I would never be annoying! " I would be annoying. If I'm overthinking in public that is not to ruin your life or to mark you as ableist scum, but it is also kinda weird to try to say ' I would never complain ' to mark yourself against ' bad' disabled people
Another annoying dynamic is what I call the Tylenol problem. Someone goes to the doctor with terrible pain. They've tried everything. The doctor doesn't check and just says take a Tylenol.
Everyone is mad in this scenario - the patient because they are in pain and of course they've tried Tylenol before going to the doctor and the doctor because they think the patient is dumb for going when they could be fixed with Tylenol
The covid transition is hard. I'm trying to pretend I am not worried about germs but it is not going well. I think I'll mask in public for a very long time because I don't like being bare faced. I asked my mom if she wanted my lil air purifier for Thanksgiving and she thought ..vax and prayer was enough? Uh ...no. I wish we had something besides this choose your own adventure stuff because anyone can convince themselves if anything now
Another pet peeve: people expecting disabled people on the internet to conform to an overcoming narrative. Yes, people say " Oh wow because of my ADHD my house is a mess" but that's just online dynamics. It makes literally no sense for me to post ' I do my laundry and hold down a job '. That's the baseline here. If people have tips they usually post in their own post, but it is actually kinda rude to add unsolicited advice to rants.
So that's why people say " me too,my house is a damn mess". They are not self infantilzing. They are seeking connection. Most people need to connect before they improve. If someone wants help they say ' can anyone help' and then you add tips like ' I found an app' or ' I listen to dance music and use a timer'.
Another pet peeve-: jobs who enjoy wasting resources. Like just let us have a zoom meeting the earth is burning and the flu is running through.
Another pet peeves. Don't watch the news. Dude if you don't engage or take action on things that affect you, you're giving your power to others that don't have your interests at heart. Stay informed.
With the implosion of Twitter I now use like 5 social media sites instead of 2. So it's time to complain about social media. I'm jealous of folks who are like I got off social media and was super productive. Usually I use social media when I'm low energy and can't even concentrate on watching TV or reading a book.
Most people assume that if we have enough time we would also have the energy or focus but that's simply not true for me. So let me get those memes
Things that bother me part 2. Advice. I hate it. I have Google, I have heard of vitamins, I have heard of exercise, I have heard of mediation. I continue to do these things that do not work for me, but you can't assume every problem can be solved by these. Not to mention! Usually I want support not advice. Advice is " you're not trying hard enough" Support is " How can I help?"
