Athens-based Third Sun Solar, a leading solar-energy provider in Ohio, used a press conference Friday afternoon to promote local efforts to promote clean and renewable energy sources, as well as to officially endorse local food producer Chris Chmiel for Athens County Commissioner.
Third Sun Solar President Geoff Greenfield and company co-owner Michelle Greenfield said Chmiel's entrepreneurship and dedication to clean and efficient energy will be beneficial in a county leadership role, and that they would like to see Chmiel support Property-Assessed Clean Energy.
In simplified terms, PACE is a program that would allow a homeowner to pay for energy-efficient appliances and clean-energy systems, such as solar panels, partly through an increase in the individual's property tax.
