Dressed up, speeches ready and totally in a good mood. Alright! Hawks grinned confidently. On some days he and Endeavor would be running and flying across the streets to save the day. On other days they would be invited to attend fancy hero events - as the hero number 1 and 2, such as today.
“Just leave the talking to me. Don’t stumble over your words this time~” he sang. Endeavor walked behind him and grumbled at his teasy remark. Hawks was about to enter the building when he felt Endeavor grab his collar to stop him.
“What? Did that piss you off?” Hawks asked in surprise. He had said and done worse things to this man. But no, Endeavor was staring intently and he shook his head. He pointed at his wings.
“You can’t go in there like this, Hawks,” he said. Wow, he was such a dad sometimes. Hawks flapped his wings, water drops splashing onto their suits.
“Oh these? They’re a little wet, yeah. That happens when it rains. My hair’s wet too. Since you didn’t share your umbrella,” Hawks said accusingly, crossing his arms.
“You didn’t bring an umbrella in the first place. Stop blaming me,” Endeavor sighed, put away his umbrella and grabbed his shoulder.
“O-oi, what’re you-?” Hawks stuttered when Endeavor pulled him apart around the corner of the tall building. Standing under a shelter from the rain, Hawks watched in surprise how Endeavor took his wing and rubbed it to get it dry.
“You’ll leave a trail inside,” he lectured, rubbing Hawks’ wings some more.
“And so? They will dry very soon. If we don’t hurry we’re gonna be lah-lahah! Hehehey!” Hawks struggled when Endeavor got a little too close to the base of his wings.
“Not there! C’monhahaha!”
“….It tickles?”
Endeavor was staring at him with these piercing eyes and Hawks felt like he could just sink through the ground right now.
“Of course it tickles! Stohop that! They’ll get dry by themsehehelves! It’s not eheheven that bahahad!” Hawks squealed. Endeavor looked intrigued.
“Not ‘of course’ for me. I don’t have wings,” Endeavor said matter-of-factly, and oh he was definitely tickling Hawks on purpose now. His fingers wiggled experimentally all over Hawks’ wet feathers, rubbing them and, yeah, tickling them.
“Ahaha! That doesn’t mean you can just t-ticklehehe them! Nahha!” Hawks tried to run away, back into the rain and away from his strange colleague and his weird tickly mood, but Endeavor pulled him back and continued to explore his wings with curious fingers.
“I can’t believe feathers can be ticklish. Usually, they are used to tickle others,” Endeavor observed in the most serious tone as if he were talking about business.
“GAahh! And wahatch it you! I’ll tihickle you to death with these feathahahaha!” Hawks warned, but funny enough it was Hawks himself who was laughing his head off and not in a position to hand out threats. Endeavor chuckled.
“I’d like to see you try.”
Wow. Hawks blushed. Usually it was Hawks who would tease Endeavor all the time. When did he get so playful?
“Does it tickle a lot here?” Endeavor wondered as he brushed his fingers along the edge of Hawks’ wing. He jumped and let out a squeak.
“It does! I tohohold you so!” he laughed.
“What about here?” Endeavor reached for a different spot on his wing and put more pressure, his fingers digging in there. Hawks let out a loud yelp.
“GHAahah! Ahalright you’ve had your fun! Let’s go now!” he said, completely flustered. Endeavor chuckled and ruffled his feathers once more.
“You’re right. Hmm, I got them dry a little. Let’s go.” And just as suddenly and casually as it started, it ended. Endeavor walked towards the door with Hawks after him. The number two hero sulked and pouted as he flexed his wings a little that were still feeling all tingly and itchy after getting tickled so badly.
“Hurry up, Hawks,” Endeavor called out when he got a little behind, and Hawks rolled his eyes and hurried after him.
“Yes.”
Yeah, today the roles were a little reversed. But that was alright. Hawks was already plotting a fitting revenge to teach Endeavor that one does not simply tickle another’s wings. Not even the number one hero could get away with that!
