I need to rant a bit here, so feel free to ignore...
So I read a terrible book a while back, and I was initially leery of posting a review on Goodreads as I knew it would be almost entirely negative. I ended up posting one, as I was convinced that it would help inform other readers, and I tried to keep it as nice as I could while still pointing out my issues.
Before I posted it, there was only a handful of ratings and a single glowing review... by the publisher. After a quick check, it turns out this publisher gives 5-star ratings/reviews to all of his own books and those published by his company.
Today he posted a defensive response to my review where he points at two people who supposedly had the same lack of training/experience before becoming pros (because that apparently makes it okay). He also argues...
"the sort of domination that they dispensed wasn't hard core, more theatrical and BDSM-lite than anything."
WTF IS BDSM-LITE? The main character never mentions any kind of scene negotiation, no safe words, no limits... On multiple occasions the people she's with even tell her to stop, but she doesn't. She's basically winging every scene. I JUST... UGH.
