Please help me understand why the Edward = Romeo reveal was the obvious answer! Because even now that we know for sure (as sure as we can be when the story keeps changing the rules), I can't make sense of them being the same person.
Bear with me. I might have missed or skipped over details along the way. Here goes...
It's when Ro herself starts thinking Edward is Romeo at that lake scene early in season 2 added with the hints sprinkled through the informations and memories we have of Romeo. I wasn't 100% on board with Ro calling Edward her Romeo yet since I thought it's either a diversion or they're gonna slip in a new information that throws everything up in the air again. Then the reveal happened and I had to sit a minute with myself to take it all in. And it made sense (for now I'm waiting on that juicy, juicy one on one!)
Firstly, why and how was Romeo under Claudius Pembroke's care? That question never stopped bugging me and no one knew the answer (I figured they'd it explain it by S3 or before S2 ends) or never bother explain at all.
Secondly, why was Romeo always wearing an iron mask unless it is imperative to hide his true identity? If we use the figure of the Iron Masked prisoner as a reference, it's means he either belongs to a noble family easily identifiable through a physical trait or, as someone else wrote, possibly was Edward's twin (i love this theory!). Why hide this dangerous sorcerer's identity when they're so eager to boast their exploits? Wouldn't you expect them to plaster his face all over England? If he flees how would they know it's him when he removes the mask? Why conceal the boy's identity unless someone close to or has connections to the throne stands to loose it all?
Thirdly, who conveniently has had the easiest access to the quill pen since S1 besides Romeo? Edward retrieved the quill from Shakespeare as stated in S1.
Now on what we have learned so far about Romeo:
He has dark hair according to Hobello (Hobello himself says appearance-wise Romeo modelled his hair color after him)
He has been a skilled verse-magic practitioner knee-deep into books with melancholy eyes (again Hobello's words)
His inner emotions affects the weather (kind of like Ro now that I think about it when her abilities awakened)
He was the one who gave Ro the red cloak, the same cloak that Edward gifts to Ro twice and comes back again in the story claiming he sewed it himself twice (pre-reveal I thought he was playing with her)
If we narrow down the options of which LI has black hair it would be between Hobello, Edward, Edmund and/or potentially a new character we haven't met yet in S3. Not unheard of in RC stories.
But which of these three has been spotted the most in the hospital library since S1? Gosh darn moody Edward Pembroke who conveniently looks good in a black hood!!!
If you choose to meet Edward in S1, Ro points out from the get go that the stranger's sin is hard to figure out (which initially made me suspect he could be one of M's servants) or seemingly lacking of it.
Time and time again, throughout S1 every interaction with this sus moody man has him alluding of knowing Ro's nature and lack thereof despite clearly showing interests for her romantically (I'm romancing him on mine) and restraining himself from getting attached to her by telling her to back away (at first you think, oh it's because he loathes witches but damn it if it doesn't take a whole different meaning in hindsight!)
Then there was the way their CGs were done. I don't why, but the way they were executed throughout the series striked me as odd. Every CG of them together made for a smutty romance novel cover (again, easily attributable to the fact they may have known each other before Ro's memory was erased). So I figured, oh! a visual representation of that sense of familiarity maybe? Their unconscious connections crossing the boundary of memory spells, then?
Around comes S2 and we gradually learn that Claudius Pembroke has been moving the pieces for reasons we have yet to know. Why have Ro meet with Romeo? Why suggest to send her to Stratford-upon-Avon? Why have Ralph along in this new mission? If we take in Abraham's pov, the protestants are taking advantage of fearmongering to gain more political foothold within the country. How in/convenient is it then to have a son who wields magic just as the fear of witchcraft is growing by the hour? Unless M's magic influenced them as well? Whether or not Edward is partial to his father's plotting remains to be seen.
Since the start of the story, most of the characters have insisted that Romeo and Juliet died 5 years ago. But as we have learned throughout the series, we can't trust every one's words. Because if Ro survived, what are the odds of the same thing happening to Romeo as well? Romeo's bargain with M assured no one would remember Roxanne nor the identity of Juliet. Meaning theoretically, Ro/Juliet is considered dead and so is Romeo. But what of the identity behind Romeo? They killed the figure but not the person behind said figure. If that makes sense at all.
When Romeo heard of Juliet's death that's when he made the bargain with M. However, if Edward retained all previous memories of what happened, then it means when Ro walked backed into that hospital in S1 he knew already who she was. What better way to save them both than rewrite their story at the end of S1 now that Ro is back in the play and put in motion the revenge plans he has been writing since before Juliet?
Sorry. I think I went off tangent there. But that's the jest of my thought process 😅
LADS Pro Tip: If your birthday has passed change it to an upcoming date because it resets in the new year and I'm going to get the rewards before they're gone.
Ohhhh! I did get that card! Thanks! Let's pretend I'm a Capricorn until New Year's 😏
I'd rather see Series Entertainment be done w Choices than witness the worst downfall of once an iconic visual novel. I won't be surprised if they ruin Most Wanted, Veil of Secrets, and maybe other Choices classics too. 😭😭
With how they're operating I wouldn't be surprised if they try to milk the classics and drain them with ai slop claiming it's what the fans want. I took a look at their IG for the first time in years and the Hero 2 slop was horrible. Why the hell are they even moving to animation?
The extra content is only wardrobe outfits from what it looks like, luckily they are going to be available during shopping days. I don’t think there’s going to be any subscription specific scenes or anything though.
That's a relief to hear! Thanks you for letting me know :D
Do you happen to know how to use those pieces from the Wheel of Fortune in Romance Club?
You mean the tokens? If you save up enough you can spend them on buying card sets :D
I can't remember if trading cards means paying money, but if you obtain a duplicate card you can break it to earn tokens that will add to the sum in your posession. I wish they could also be used for buying slots tho :/
