When did you first come up with the bear girls? What was the process in creating them?

I have had Spirit for a pretty long time! She was my first We Bare Bears OC. 

My estimate for the first drawing of her may have been 2015-2016? Her design has improved over time but, her premise has always been the same. She’s a lesbian kermode bear with 80s aerobics aesthetics! However, with the movie recently making huge changes to worldbuilding I thought I would revisit another time because her premise is actually now pretty supported in the canon universe now! 

I thought it would be fun to give her two roommates to kinda mimic the Bear Bros. Really, I made Solane because I wanted a sloth bear OC and I thought it would be interesting to have a Bear who actually is a little reluctant to  join human society entirely and actually criticizes it in comparison to how a lot of the other Bears in the credits seemed to dive right in. Bernadette was created on the same day and she’s kind of the opposite to Solane! She wants to embrace  human society entirely. And then, finally, Spirit meets the two of them in the middle.

I also want to shoutout that had some help with creating Bernadette from my pal @paddingtonbearofficial! She’s always contributed a lot of great ideas and is a wonderful storyteller, character creator and friend and I always appreciate her input!  :0)

Update on my surface pro;

So if you follow my twitter you know that last week my surface pro 3’s screen was cracked really badly. I’ve been unable to do any artwork while on my lunch for this reason, and can only work on my desktop Cintiq when I’m at home. Since my lunch hour is a productive time for me art wise, this has been a blow to my productivity. I also couldn’t get anything off the tablet due to the nature of the crack on the digitizer, so all lineart on there is in limbo atm.

the GOOD news is that I took it in to be repaired today after work. They’re ordering a new digitizer screen, and will be installing it as soon as it arrives. At the earliest I’ll have my surface pro back on Saturday!

The bad news is that I have a whole week of unproductive lunch hours ahead of me. Also, it cost over $400 for the part alone, not including labor! I’m kind of sweating at the price, but it was cheaper and quicker than ordering a new one, so I swallowed the price tag.

That being said, i might open some cheaper USD commission options for temporary purchase, if anyone wanted to help me offset the price of the repair on my tablet.

Family is honestly so important to him. It’s one of the things he lost until he met Derek. And no matter what anyone tells me, Derek is his family. The pack is his family. His dynamic or emotions with these four are so much more visceral than with Scott/Mama McCall and Allison. Because with the other three, there’s a bigger sense of choice within them and for him, during those last few days with his father choice was so important. His choices brought him to Derek. His choices also brought him back home to face his father’s wrath that night. His choices also brought about the fatal result of losing his father. Like they were the ones in the ashes with him, the ones that steadied the walls when they were so goddamn weak, and to lose them one by one was just too much. ( Especially Derek because Derek is the instigator of it all. He’s the propagator. He’s the one that opened the door to all the possibilities because you know, without him, he would’ve never left his dad ––– or that basement. ) But then there’s a different sense of family too with the Mccalls because with the Mccalls; everything is soft and light and gentle; all things he hasn’t had or felt in years because with the pack –– they were hardened by the circumstance, by Derek’s need ––– but with the McCalls, it was just a home with a mother and a son and him. But there’s also that wall though that I still hope to explore some day, that wall that focuses on the fact that he’s the outsider. The foster/adopted kid that will always feel like he’s just begging for scraps even though he will adore those two till the end of time. Allison was different though; I mean it was short and a first love kind of thing but that feeling of family with her was different; it was more vibrant and erratic and wild because it was unexpected and unpredictable. But there was comfort in it because he thought she’d be part of his future.

It's just none better half the time...especially lately. I barely check the regular Anders tag anymore, it's not worth wading through the "wibble white boy terrorist!!!1" and "not all mages!!!!1!1" posts...but the anders* tag is slowly turning into the same. Like I said in that ask I got, people will go out of their way to make sure Anders fans are properly harassed for daring to like him.
