In this house, we respect, well, everyone.
I believe the golden rule has long been ignored. Seriously, just treat others the way you want to be treated. All these marginalized groups that everyone is treating like some sort bogeyman? All they want is respect, dignity, and the right to be who they are without having to be afraid. They just want to have the same basic human rights as everyone else without being accused of every disgusting thing under the sun. And I wish more people understood that.
Today, the UK Supreme Court ruled that woman in the Equality Act means "biological woman."
At a time when so much in the world feels uncertain ,violent, and unstable, the state has chosen to target one of the smallest and most marginalised communities in the country.
This ruling won't make anyone safer. It won't bring fairness or protection. But it will make life harder and more dangerous for trans people and for intersex people too, whose bodies and identities are often erased by this kind of rigid, binary thinking.
Trans people have always existed. Across every culture, every era, every part of the world. You can't legislate us out of existence, and we're not going anywhere.
We're sending love and solidarity to our trans siblings today and every day. You are not alone. You are not wrong. You are not the problem. You are loved, needed, and powerful.
We keep fighting for each other and for a better world.

Reinforcing gender roles
I saw a photo of Paul on someone's feed where he's pulling laundry out of the washing machine at Forthlin Rd. in 1963. It's a cute photo! I'd put it here, but the file I found was too large. I'm sure most of you know which photo I'm talking about, though.
There were more than a couple of people in the tags calling Paul "gay", a "tradwife", etc. for doing laundry. This reinforces gender roles, which says that men shouldn't be doing laundry or else they'll be mistaken for a woman or a gay man. I'd like to note that these people might have been joking with their tags on the photo, but I don't know if they are, which is why I thought I'd say something. I'm obviously not going to say who they are, because it doesn't matter, but I think that any time you chastise men for doing household chores that was considered to be "women's work" you're just reinforcing the patriarchy and rigid gender roles. Knowing how to do laundry is a life skill, not a gender role. Maybe it's because I'm older than a lot of fans here, and have witnessed women's hard-won rights, that I don't find it amusing to joke about Paul being gay or a tradwife for doing something men should have been doing for a very long time. If anyone has noticed, women are losing their rights in the US because men and their handmaidens of the patriarchy supporters want to shove us back into the kitchen because they're freaking out that we've gained power and agency over the decades. Women around the world are also facing setbacks in their rights and are being relegated to only the household sphere.
People can say whatever they want on their feeds, I'm not going to say that they can't, but I'd just like people to think a bit before they perpetuate these ideas, even as a joke.
