I wanted to portray this since a while now, I'm glad I finally managed <3 Stryzh's relationship with Harpy (his former Captain) was so interesting to me.

This comic isn't about cigarettes, take it as an analogy for all the issues she always refused to face :> Her unfaithful marriage, her failed motherhood (she basically abandonned her son to her husband, which she only married because it was the "normal" thing to do), she never did anything to fix it, maybe because she didn't want to, maybe because she felt like she didn't deserve to fix it. Maybe it was all good excuses, just like cigarettes. It wildly clashed with the way Stryzh lived, he had no curtain, no chains, only raw determination.

In the end, Harpy decided to stop smoking after this one last mission. She would retire and dedicate her time to her lover, a woman she truly wanted to help. Just one last cigarette, just one last deployment. She died there, unceremoniously and almost quietly, it was done in seconds. To this day, Stryzh thinks it was probably half on purpose, Harpy could never move on from her demons and guilt.

I made an english version, as well as an ukrainian version , bc the characters are ukrainian and it's a very, very good way for me to practice eheheh ( thank you @overnappingmultifan for helping me with the translation ❤️ )

"Ben? What's wrong?"

ENG: I'm proud of the texture and colour scheme of this artwork, but not so much in the lighting (I've set the brush way too light and some of the areas didn't make sense), and Ben and Holly could have a more dynamic pose. Still, I like this painting, but this can be way better, in my opinion.

See you for a redraw in a year or two.

My last idea for @keferon ‘s mech au got so much more attention that I thought it would and just you all are such lovely people!!!

I had a shockop idea that I was nervous about sharing but I thought I would after some thought. In a few pieces I’ve read for this AU, some authors include medical brain implants so that pilots can drift with their mechs. My second thought after reading these was wondering if Shockwave was responsible for their creation?

Maybe a surge in the drift is partly responsible for Orion’s condition, so he petitioned for a medical implant that would protect pilots from surges. He didn’t want what happened to Orion to happen to everyone else because he knew Orion wouldn’t want that but…

But also my first thought was it’s a lot like the control chips from Star Wars: basically a chip in the heads of clones that let Sith Lords control them. And that is right up Shockwave’s alley, with other ideas that have been presented in this story…

It becomes a double edged sword. He’s protecting the pilots, he’s controlling the pilots, he can do both. He can satisfy both ends.

And when Orion comes back, he’ll be safe from surges too.

And I thought if a pilot damages their implant, maybe they can get away from Shockwave’s control. Then I had the horribly angst image:

Hot Rod trying to scratch the implant out, panic setting in as blood squelches from his finger tips. It rolls down the sides of his head, soaking deep into his hair, and drops to the floor. He digs and digs, he has to get it out. Out. Out. Out!

And just Hot Rod can’t feel the pain of what he’s doing, he just knows that if he doesn’t get it out that he could be controlled again and he was already used to hurt his friends.

It’s angsty, wondering the lengths that someone would go to remove an implant from their head.

Of course, Ratchet could do it safely, but what if he wasn’t available?
