OMFG YOU GUYS THE FUNNIEST THING HAPPENED TONIGHT
So, I live on campus in the dorms with five other girls (there's six of us) and we all had a mandatory meeting for the end of the semester as one does, led by our Resident Advisor (RA) that we'll call Z, and afterwards we were all in the kitchen talking. We got on the subject of scary stories and decided to do the classic roommate thing and turn off all the dorm lights, gather in the living room couches with only our Christmas tree lights on, and talk about scary experiences.
The first to talk about stuff is my immediate roommate (the person I share a room with), we'll call her L, and she talks about the time when she woke up at exactly 3 AM to the sound of scratching coming from the inside of her closet door.
Now we're already riled up with the talk in the kitchen. it's all dark, it's like 9 pm, we're all a little freaked out and L is not helping when she told us about the scratching, then reached up behind her to scratch the wall. IMMEDIATELY AFTER she scratches the wall, there's a knock at the door.
We all heard it at the exact same time, and we all started SCREAMING. Because it's dark, we're alone, late at night, telling scary stories that truly happened to us all. L launches herself across the room to the couch, it's like she teleported, my other roommates are huddling, roommates A and K are hugging each other, B is hiding in the couch, J and L are holding each other and I don't know what to do so I'm just trying to stay on the couch because L was just scratching the wall and then someone knocked. So, we're all screaming and trying to figure out what the FUCK just happened
then someone, I think it was A, points out that it might be Z, our RA, because she mentioned at our meeting that she was going to come to all the dorms on our floor after said meeting to hand out some extra information. At this point, no one really knows what to do, so I get up and start running to the door and look through the peephole, shaking and terrified AF, and lo and behold, it's Z looking slightly terrified.
I start laughing so hard my stomach hurts and I can barely speak. I open the door, and Z is just standing there, concerned as fuck
she says "I didn't even do anything! Why is everyone freaking out?"
I can't talk because I'm laughing so hard, almost bent double over the door handle and can barely breathe through it all, so I just let her in and turn on a kitchen light and through the six of us crying because of how hard we were laughing after the adrenaline rush of scary stories and knocking at the door, we manage to somehow explain to Z that we were telling scary stories right before she came by, L was scratching the wall for sound effects, and then in a silent, dark dorm, Z knocked and scared the living SHIT out of all of us. Including the half of us who constantly enjoy watching horror movies and true crime documentaries (side eyes J and B).
needless to say, Z thought it was absolutely hilarious how she scared us so badly. We got back to telling scary stories afterwards, like the idiots we all are, but I was literally shaking for a good ten minutes after that. We've also all decreed that we are sleeping with at least one light on tonight because our dorm in one hallway with a closet at one end, a doorway leading to the kitchen/living room on the other end, and three bedrooms on one side of the hallway, two bathrooms and a mirror with a sink on the other side. The front door is in an entryway between the long hall and the kitchen. This layout, with a dark room at the end of a dark hallway at night is, understandable, terrifying.
holy shit it was so scary. we probably scared the shit out of our neighbors too. One probably could have heard us outside of our dorm, like outside, outside. Z definitely heard us screaming and she was on the other side of our dorm, in the hall.
We're going to be laughing about this for months. If I ever have kids, I'm going to tell them that this is what college is like. This and the time A, L, and I decided to get papa johns from a tiny outlet a mile off campus, took the wrong bus, and ended up walking almost more than we would have if we had just walked there in the first place, but that's a different story lmfao
