Hope's Peak Academy's affinity for three-legged races as a part of its physical education course was admittedly strange, and it wasn't as though Saihara looked forward to those exercises either. He couldn't just let Ouma sit them out on a convenient lie when everyone else had to suffer through it. Normally, Saihara was paired with Momota for these sorts of things... His energy was contagious enough for the both of them to get by, sometimes even win the race. Because of that, it was actually even becoming fun to push himself like this, even on top of his daily training. But perhaps the same couldn't be said for Ouma when he was the one forced to partner up with Momota due to the coach's orders this time, the chaotic dissonance in their movements -- and their attitudes -- resulting in the two of them tumbling to the ground together in a heap. Momota was fine, though, pretty used to taking hard falls due to his astronaut training... but the same couldn't be said for Ouma, who wasn’t at all accustomed to strenuous physical activity. In fact, Saihara was beginning to suspect that something was broken, considering the way he had fallen...
After it was confirmed by Tsumiki that Ouma had in fact broken his ankle (and that this was his third visit to the nurse’s office this week, oddly), Saihara couldn't help but feel slightly guilty. After all, he had forced Ouma to participate in something that ended in his ankle getting broken. The rational part of his mind reminded him that it wasn't fair or right for Ouma to sit out in the first place, that Ouma didn't need to be constantly acting as a thorn on Momota's side and getting himself into these situations, but... still. If Saihara had simply left him alone, he wouldn't be here struggling with a considerably bad injury. To get around, he'd probably have to be on crutches for a while...
"Do you... have to remind me? Maybe you should have put in more of an effort not to provoke Momota-kun while your feet were tied together. Ouma-kun, your actions have consequences. Jokes and pranks can go too far," Saihara replied, cross, though Ouma's words still forced in that stake of guilt just a little deeper. He knew it was just another of Ouma's jokes... but was now really the time? He really didn’t want to argue about it. "What, a snack? Ah, I suppose... I can do that. The cafeteria isn’t too from from here.” He at least owed the guy that much for being involved. "But why is it that you want me to stick around so badly? You said so yourself that I'm the reason you're in this predicament, right? If you really believe that, shouldn't you be more... angry with me? Tsumiki-san herself even said that you'd be on crutches for a few months... That’s going to be pretty difficult on you."
